MENTAL GROWTH

Text: Luke 2:40

Meanwhile, the child continued to grow and to become strong. He was filled with wisdom, and God’s favor rested upon him.

Mental growth focuses on the development of your mind, such as the way you think and learn. God is not just interested in your spiritual wellbeing, He is interested in you wholistically.

He says in Mark 12:30 that thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy *mind* , and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. So, God is concerned about what goes on in your mind. 

How much of God do you retain in your thoughts.  How often do you meditate on His words daily? Joshua 1:8 says This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

You need your mind to meditate. To have good success in God and in life, you need to meditate on His words day and night. You need to know that without constant meditation on God's words, you won't observe to do His commands. This is why David said,  Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. (Psalms 119:11).

This year, intentionally train your mind to meditate on God's words with the intent of obeying it, and you will record good success.

WHEN GOD IS SILENT(2)

Text: Matthew 4:1  *Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.*  We saw yesterday that God was not pleased with many israelites that left Egypt for the promised land  (Corinthians 10:5).  A good percentage of the Israelites were overthrown in the wilderness.   Wilderness experience is not what any child of God desires, but it is an experience God sends or allows his children go through. In Deuteronomy 8:2, God says that He *LED* the Isrealites through the wilderness for forty years to humble them, to prove them, and to know what was in their heart whether they would keep his commandments or not.  Our Lord Jesus Christ was also *LED* into the wilderness by the Spirit of the Lord to be tempted by the devil. You will  notice there is a similar feature of the number *40(forty)* between these two wilderness experiences. That is, that of the Israelites and our Lord Jesus Christ. GULLIBLE BUT INTELLIGENT

Text : Mat 25:31-32  *When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:*   *And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:*  Have you ever wondered why Jesus compared His followers to sheep and not goats?  Sheep has reputation for being stupid, defenceless and harmless creatures that mope about on hillsides doing not very much. They are good for two things: being eaten and producing wool.
