ROOT OF BITTERNESS.

Text : Hebrews 12:15

Looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled;

The scripture is admonishing you to watch out for bitterness. Any offence that is not healed within shortest period of time turns to hurt, and hurt turns to bitterness.

Bitterness can either be against your fellow humans or even God. Bitterness goes deep into one's life like the root of a tree that grows deep into the soil beneath the ground surface.

When you are hurting, you hurt others around you, but when you are bitter, you cause trouble for yourself, and thereby defiling or corrupting others.

*If you find yourself in the presence of anyone that is bitter, you must carefully guard your heart, lest you are defiled.* Such one has a strong capacity to corrupt you and pass same bitterness to you, because bitterness is contagious.

Unforgiveness, deep hatred, regrets, anger, ingratitude, inability to love or to receive love, pain, hurt, negative attitude, incessant disputes and complaints are symptoms of bitterness. When you notice all or any of these symptoms in a person, then such person is  nursing bitterness.

Bitterness that is left untreated for too long a time will turn to spirit of bitterness, and once overtaken by the spirit of bitterness, one may be heading towards self-destruction.

This was the case in  Absalom's life, when the spirit of bitterness drove him to destruction.
It started with unforgiveness against Amnon, and this led to deep hatred. He killed Amnon.(2 Samuel 13:22).  He became ungrateful to Joab who pleaded his case before King David, and he burnt down his farmland (2 Samuel 14:30). He refused to accept love and forgiveness of his father (King David). He thereafter overthrew him and took his throne.(2 Samuel 15:13-14).

A believer must always be purging himself of any iota of bitterness through the blood of Jesus, so as not to be overtaken by the spirit of bitterness.

Bible Reading:

2 Samuel 13:28-33.

 PRAYER FOCUS

1.) Father God, I please purge me from every iota of bitterness in Jesus name.

2.) Father Lord, deliver my soul and heart from the grip of bitterness in the name of Jesus.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

WAY MAKER-2

Text: Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing: now it shall spring forth: shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness,  and rivers in the desert. God promised that He will do a new thing for you, and that He will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. He has done this before, and He will do it again even in your own life.  When the children of Israel left Egypt, the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them, encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.(Exodus 14:9). Just like anyone would react, the Isrealites became so fearful because there is neither way forward nor back for them to escape. Before them was the red sea, behind them were the Egyptian armies. They became perplexed and began to murmur against Moses. It is possible you are also in a situation like the Israelites- No way forward, and no way behind. Things may appear like you are ...

TIME IN ETERNITY

Text : Psalms 90:12  So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom._  Our God dwells in eternity past, present and future. In between these phases of eternity, He created man to dwell in Time. When man sinned, he fell short of God's plan, and death came in.(Rom 3:23). Death therefore short circuit man's life in eternity. This is the reason Jesus.came.  He had to come into TIME in order to remove the PAUSE  death HAD on man.  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16.  Every man born into this world automatically becomes an eternal being. The question therefore is, which side of eternity would such a man dwell? Everlasting life or Everlasting condemnation? Time is an opportunity given to man to trade for eternal life. You have limited time to exchange for eternal life in eternity.  Time offers you the opportunity to ga...
