Text : 1 John 2:1
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
*A baby is not expected to remain a baby forever. The beauty of babies is their steady growth.*
In the physical, a five year old will no longer be referred to as baby but a child. If after five years, the child is still wearing diapers, unable to walk, unable to talk and not capable of eating adult food, the parents already know that it's a full blown problem that needs not just medical attention but spiritual intervention as well.
How come we don't view a five year old in the Spirit who is still behaving like a baby with the same sense of urgent spiritual attention and intervention.
How old are you in the Spirit? Since when have you given your life to Jesus? Do you still consider yourself a babe in Christ or a child of God.
As a child of God, are you still wearing diaper at your age? Or do you freely defecate on yourself and expect other believers to clean you up?
If after spending some years in Christ, you have not learnt how to walk in the Spirit, then, you have chosen to remain a baby. Galatians 5:16 says _This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh._ *To walk in the Spirit is to stop fulfilling the lust, the desires and the cravings of the flesh.*
Romans 8:14 says *For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.* So a child of God is characterised by walking and following the leadings of the Spirit ( the Holy Spirit).
The essence of the milk that was introduced to you at birth is to make you grow, so you can move from being a babe in Christ who is almost totally dependent on another person for virtually everything, to a child of God who is learning how to walk in love, and to talk with salt and grace and how to start consuming adult food in the Spirit.
It is time to move from 'give me, give me', Christianity, to a 'hear and do' Christian. Be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.James 1:22.
