Text : 1 Corinthians 13:11
When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
There are things a child will say or do and goes scot-free, but if adult should try same, he will face the consequences. Adulthood comes with responsibility.*
Many young fellas want to be accorded the respect of adulthood, but they are not willing to shoulder the responsibilities that come along with being adults.
A responsible adult is anyone who has learnt how to deprive himself in order to achieve a set goal.
As you mature in the spirit, you must learn to put away childish things, and be ready to take up responsibilities.
When Moses became a man he proved it with the choices he made in life.
By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter;
choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; (Hebrews 11:24-25).
*As a believer, you are confronted daily with making choices between suffering with Christ and pleasures of sins.* Whatever choice you make always show whether you are growing or not.
We can only become joint-heirs with Christ when we choose to suffer with Him while on this side of eternity.
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; *if so be that we suffer with him,* that we may be also glorified together. (Romans 8:16-17).
So the glory is attached to the suffering, and the suffering is to deny oneself of the pleasures of sin.
You must remember however that, whatever suffering or denial you go through here is nothing compared to the glory that awaits us.
*For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.* (Romans 8:18).
*For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;* (2 Corinthians 4:17).
*Bible Reading:*
Hebrews 11:24-30.
