LIVING HOPE-2

Text : 1Corinthian 15:19.

If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.

Living hope is what the old saints lived for. All the Patriarchs in the bible lived for a lively hope. They lived for a tangible hope that transcends their days.

Today, we shall be looking at how you can start living for real hope that purifies your heart.
The book of first John chapter three verse three says that everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

Firstly, to experience a hope that is lively, you must be looking forward to the appearance of Jesus Christ. This is one hope that keeps you alive and pure. When the hope of seeing Christ just as He is, and to eternally abide with Him enters your heart, you  will become more intentional in your walk with the Lord.

Many believers in recent times have become beclouded by so many hopes that they have forgotten the real hope unto which they were called.

Apostle Paul prayed for the church in Ephesus that their eyes of understanding may  be enlightened, so that they can know what the hope of His (God's) calling is... (Ephesians 3:18).

Your eyes of understanding need to be illuminated by the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of God's will for you to know the Hope behind God's calling for your life. (Ephesians 3:17).

Secondly, if you want to live for the living hope, you must constantly remind yourself of the fact  that the things which are seen are temporal, while the unseen are eternal. (2Cor.4:18).

By this understanding, you will learn to live for the things that are eternal and not just for the temporal things which you can see.

While we need temporal things to do life while on this side of eternity, we must however refute the temptation of living for them. When you look up to the  invisible God, and pursue the unseen things that bring pleasure to His heart, then you would have truly lived a worthy life afterall. And every other thing that seems to be important in this world, would be graciously added to you by the Lord.

To Seek God's kingdom and His righteousness, is to seek the unseen things which are eternal. (Matthew 6:33, 2Cor. 4:18).

PRAYER FOCUS

1.) Father,  Please,  give me sight to be able to see beyond what this earth can offer.

2.) Lord, increase my appetite for living hope in Christ Jesus.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
