HONESTY

Text : Acts  6:3

Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

In those days, as the number of the disciples was growing larger and larger, a complaint was made by the Hellenistic Jews against the Hebraic Jews that their widows were being neglected in the daily distribution of food.

So, the twelve disciples called the whole group of disciples together and said, “It is not desirable for us to neglect messages from God in order to wait on tables.

The Apostles proposed to the whole assembly to appoint seven men among them who will be saddled with this responsibility. However, there are basic criteria these men must fulfil and the number one on the list is honesty.

The Apostles told them, "chose people  who have honest report, who are full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, and we’ll put them in charge of this work."

Does it not amaze you that to qualify as workers in the house of the Lord, God expects you to be honest.

At times you hear people say that they don't care what people think or say about them, that they only have business with God. Well, this is anti-scripture.

1 Peter 2:12 says "Continue to live such upright lives among the gentiles that, when they slander you as practicers of evil, they may see your good actions and glorify God when he visits them. So it's clear that unbelievers need to see your good works before they can give glory to God"

Also, Matthew 5:16 says, In the same way, *let your light shine before people in such a way that they will see your good actions and glorify your Father in heaven.”*

Honesty talks about your good reputation, your good actions and good works, all of which people can testify to.

It is generally believed that honesty is the best policy.  One of the things that you should complement your faith with is honesty. It makes you endearing to men and acceptable to God.

HOW HONEST ARE YOU?
