FEAR THE LORD-1

Text : Psalms  34:9

O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.

The only fear that is clean and pure is the  fear of the Lord. The Psalmist affirms that the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever. (Psalms 19:9).

*A man who truly fears the Lord, can never and will not fear anything else.*
For instance, it is not possible that you are walking in the fear of the Lord, and at the same time fearing the devil. *You can't be walking in the fear of the Lord and be held down in fear by the devil at the same time.*

As a child of God, when you notice that you are constantly living in fear, check it. it is either you are living in sin, or you are in bondage or you are living in ignorance.

When you start to walk in the fear of the Lord, oppression will be far away from you, God's light will keep your heart from darkness (ignorance) and you will hate iniquity.

Hebrews 1:9 says Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity...

Jesus Christ hated iniquity because He loved righteousness. And to love righteousness, is to  love the Lord wholeheartedly.  Many believers claim they love God, but they are not walking in His fear. This is not correct. *To love the Lord is to fear Him, and to fear the Lord, actually means loving Him.*

Our first parents, (Adam and Eve) brought the whole humanity into the terror of the devil simply because they missed out in the fear of the Lord. But thanks be unto Jesus Christ, our Saviour and Lord who delivered us from the fear of death.
Jesus _"...deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage."_ Hebrew 2:15.

One of the many reasons the world does not have much regards for the gospel that we proclaim is that, they are not seeing the fear of the Lord in us who claim to herald the gospel. The world wants to see us practising and living out the gospel, and not just proclaiming it.
May we truly rediscover the fear of the Lord as it was in the first century when the church began.

 *PRAYER FOCUS*

1.) Father Lord, let the spirit of the fear of the Lord rest upon me.

2.) Father Lord, help me to daily walk in your fear in Jesus name.
