FREEDOM FROM ANXIETY-3

TEXT: Philippians 4:6

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

We shall continue to look at how you can get rid of anxiety.

Yesterday, we saw that one of the major ways to overcome anxiety is to simply believe in Jesus' instruction of  "Do not worry about your life..."  Apostle Paul also made the same remark in our text. He  warned us to "Be anxious for nothing..."

Then he mentioned one thing you should do in order to drive away anxiety- PRAY. *To stay out of anxiety, you must stay in prayer.*

Instead of getting yourself worried over anything, God's word says you should pray about everything. (Philippians 4:6, NLT).
Turn every worrying to prayer points and your anxiety will fly away.

Anxiety takes away your peace. So, when you present your situation to God, the first thing He does in response to your prayer is to guard your heart and mind with His peace.

When you see people who pray and get anxious at the same time, such folks only speak with their mouth, their hearts are far from what they are praying about, and obviously, their hearts are not fixed on the God who answers prayers.

You need to rediscover prayer as a moment of total surrender and submission before the Lord. Sometimes, you often pray in order to simply fulfill religious exercise, and not for the purpose of fellowship or communication with the Lord.

*Religious prayer doesn't take away anxiety, only heart-felt prayer does, and that's fellowship.*

Always learn to come Into God's presence with an open heart. Your prayer must not be a facade and lips service, rather a truthful flow of thoughts from your heart and mind unto God.

You cannot have an unresolved issue that is bothering your heart while you keep praying day and night without laying your heart bear before the Lord.

For instance, if you are troubled about your marital state because you are not in good terms with your spouse, and you go to church on Sunday where you are asked to pray for the peace of your nation. Then, you pray this fervently, while neglecting the state of your marriage in prayer,  Jesus will pick up the anxiety and worry you are nursing about your marital sitauation in your heart, and you may be considered an hypocrite. (Psalms 51:6, 1Sam 16:7).

 *Always remember that God does not look at your mouth when praying but your heart.* (2Chron.16:9).

BIBLE READING:

Mark 4:36-41.

 *PRAYER FOCUS*

1. I have Jesus' Peace, therefore I declare peace over my life and every situation around me in the name of Jesus.
