Text : Psalms 51:1.
*Have mercy, God, according to your gracious love, according to your unlimited compassion, erase my transgressions.*
King David wrote Psalms 51 When prophet Nathan came to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba the wife of Uriah.
In 2 Samuel 11, the account of David's adultery with Bathsheba was recorded. It's clear from this story that David was clearly in the wrong -
First, he stayed back home when as a king he should be at the battle front.
Secondly, when he supposed to be praying to God for the success of those at the battle front, he was busy sleeping with another man's wife.
This sin eventually led him to commit a brutal murder. However, when he was confronted with his sins, he didn't play the blame game. He immediately owned-up and went to God for mercy.
A number of times, you expect God to automatically fix the mess you created without His knowledge. But before you blame it all on God, pause to consider - Whose idea is it from the start, God's or yours?
Proverbs 19:3 says _A man’s foolishness ruins his life, yet his heart rages against the LORD._ This is typical of man, always quick to blame God for everything.
When things are going well, you take all the credit, when things go awry, you shift the blame to God.
*It is wisdom to accept it when you are wrong and humbly seek for mercy for He will abundantly pardon.*
Isaiah 55:7 says *Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.*
There's nothing hidden before God, He knows those secret sins you are hiding from Him, He only wants you to own up and ask for forgiveness and you will be set free.
1 John 1:9 says *If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.*
Go no further in that direction. Own up and He will give you a new beginning.
