Text : Proverbs 4:23
*Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. (NLT)*
We established yesterday from Hebrews 4:12 that your heart is the custodian of your thoughts and intents.
Our Lord Jesus Christ also affirmed that thoughts and other sins proceed from the heart.
_For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies._ (Matthew 15:19).
Today, we shall be looking at how you can experience heart transformation through the Word.
Having repented and confessed the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, you must continue to allow God's Spirit and Word work upon your heart. These will transform your thoughts and intents.
*Effective meditation in God's word is key to heart transformation.* For you to experience new life, you must constantly meditate in the word. *You can't simply decide to change the direction of your life by wishful thinkin, it has to be done thorough meditation in God's word.*
*God's Word is the cleansing tool for the heart (John 17:17).* When you meditate in it, it is active and powerful enough to transform the centre of your life (heart) Hebrews 4:12.
Many people like to spend more time in prayer; telling God about their problems and challenges. They do not like to spend such time in the Word, they believe that prayer is more powerful than the word.
That's a wrong perception. It is like saying your right leg is better than your left leg, or your right eye is better than your left eye. Of course you know they are both of same relevance.
So also is Word and Prayer. When you spend time in the word, meditating in it, you will realise that some of your prayers had already been answered before you even mentioned them.
The early apostles declared that they will give themselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.(Acts 6:4)
Praying without mediation in the word is like walking on one leg.
*Bible reading* : Joshua 1:7-8.
*PRAYER FOCUS*
1.) Father God, I receive grace to start spending time in the word in Jesus name.
