DON'T BURN THE BRIDGE

Text: Philemon 1:10

I appeal to you for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten while in my chains, who once was unprofitable to you, but now is profitable to you and to me.

We have more teachings today telling people to cut off relationships that are unproductive in their lives. While that can be helpful sometimes, it is not helpful at some other times.

Though wisdom will demand that you should know when a particular relationship has expired or when it is staled, yet you must see to it that you do not deliberately kill a relationship that you ought to maintain and restore.

For one reason or the other Onesimus had left or fled from Philemon, his master. Some bible commentaries had accounted the reason for the break in relationship to be theft.

Apostle Paul met Onesimus in Rome, preached to him, and got him converted.

Paul the Apostle now wrote to Philemon, appealing to him to restore Onesimus who once was unprofitable to him, but now is profitable to  both of them(Paul and Philemon).

It is possible that a one-time unproductive  relationship in your life can someday become productive. Hence, *It is better to switch certain relationships into sleep-mode, than outright shut down. For you do not know when your unproductive Onesimus can become productive.

Brother Mark for which Barnabas and Paul had a sharp contention over, later became a productive fellow to Apostle Paul who had once rejected him.(Acts 15:37-40)

Apostle Paul later wrote to Timothy asking him to take Mark, and bring him with him because he (Mark) is profitable to him for the ministry (2 Timothy  4:11).

You must be careful how you burn relationship bridge in your life. *It is better to stop plying a certain bridge(relationship) because they are no longer productive for now, than burning them down. Such may be the only bridge to your next level tomorrow.*

Bible  Reading :Ruth 1:7-22.

PRAYER FOCUS

1.) Father God, please grant me the grace and patience not to burn the bridge that ought to take me to my next level in Jesus name.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

WAY MAKER-2

Text: Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing: now it shall spring forth: shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness,  and rivers in the desert. God promised that He will do a new thing for you, and that He will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. He has done this before, and He will do it again even in your own life.  When the children of Israel left Egypt, the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them, encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.(Exodus 14:9). Just like anyone would react, the Isrealites became so fearful because there is neither way forward nor back for them to escape. Before them was the red sea, behind them were the Egyptian armies. They became perplexed and began to murmur against Moses. It is possible you are also in a situation like the Israelites- No way forward, and no way behind. Things may appear like you are ...

REBUKE THE WIND

TEXT :Mark 4:39  And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. Immediately Jesus was  awoken from His sleep by His disciples, He rebuked the wind and proclaimed peace over the sea, the wind ceased and there was a great calm. Thereafter, He asked His disciples "Why are you so fearful? how is it that you have no faith?" Jesus Christ asked the disciples why they were so fearful and without faith simply because He expected them to have taken charge of the situation. In the same manner, the Lord would have you stand against every wiles of the enemy. You must always stand in faith and rebuke every wind in your life. You must know that Jesus is always in your boat, hence you don't have to be afraid to rebuke every boisterous in your life and declare God's shalom (Peace). Jesus is willing to actively participate with you in silencing every challenging situation in your life right now.  Simply rebuk...
