TEXTS: John 16:33
These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."
*Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.*
Jesus promised us Rest and Peace, not in death but while we are still alive in this turbulent world. It is however unfortunate how the enemy has deceived man into believing that his much needed Rest and Peace are only available in death.
You will often see the inscription 'RIP' (Rest In Peace) on obituaries. A common saying in a particular cultural settings says that "The day of death is the day of rest". No! This is a big lie, Jesus promised us in John 14:27 He says _Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
He also promised us His rest in Mathew 11:28. He gave an open invitation of Rest to all.
_Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest._
So you can truly Rest in Peace before you die. It is God's desire to see you come into His rest while here on earth.
To rest in Peace is to cease from the activities of your fleshly and soulish life. It is to embrace God's life and pattern of living as originally intended. It is a point where you no longer yield to the pull of this world and its system anymore.
It is a point where you are not being led by the flesh but by the Spirit. (Romans 8:14). This state of Resting In Peace should be the pursuit of every child of God during his or her lifetime. *It is not everyone whose obituary reads,"Rest in Peace" that are truly resting in peace,* some people who have toiled and laboured during their lifetime will also enter into eternal languishing and sorrow after their death. It is a matter of Choice everyone has to make.
Rest is God's promise to you.
Let us *labour* therefore to *enter* into that *rest* , lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief._ Hebrews 4:11.
*To access the Rest and Peace Jesus promised you, you must die to Self and daily carry your cross. It is only death to Self that guarantees your Peace and Rest on this side of eternity.*
Bible Reading:Hebrew 4:1-11.
