FRUITFULNESS

Text: Genesis 1:28.

And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

God blessed Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden to be fruitful. This is a blessing of BEING and not of DOING. *The first blessing God gave to man was in form of a command- BE FRUITFUL!

The fruitfulness God blessed man with is not only for reproduction. It goes beyond child bearing. God wanted man to bring forth fruit that will give Him glory and praise amongst all His creations on earth and in heaven.

He commanded man to be  fruitful because man is like the plantings of the LORD  in the garden.

Isaiah  61:3 talks about one of the assignments of the Messiah as one who is to "..... _give(Israel/humanity) beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; *that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

When man fell into sin, God expressed his displeasure in man because he is now (mortal) *flesh* (Genesis 6:3). ``` the scripture likened all flesh to grass.``` (1 Peter 1:24).... because " All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man] as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away._

So, this is the point:

1. God commanded man to be fruitful in Genesis 1:28.

2. God promised not to strive with man again in Genesis 6:3, for man is flesh indeed.

3. 1Peter 1:24  says that all flesh is as grass.

The question is:
1. Can you say to a grass to be fruitful?

2. So if all flesh is as grass, can flesh(grass) be fruitful(bear fruit)?

It is worthy to note therefore that man did not become flesh until they (Adam and Eve) fell in the garden. That's the reason Jesus came to rescue all men from the flesh. Hence, our Born again experience  is the beginning of our journey of deliverance from the flesh back to spirit. John 3:5-6, Romans 7:24-25

May you receive grace to cooperate with the Holy Spirit in mortifying the works of the flesh in Jesus name.

Bible Reading: Romans 8:1-14.
