Text : Proverbs 10:22.
The blessing from the LORD makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow to it.
Today, we shall continue our review of the life of Mr Elimelech and family in relations to their relocation to another country in order to glean some wisdom from it.
One thing that was wrong about Elimelech's relocation was the place he moved to.
Now there came a time of famine while judges were ruling in the land of Israel. A man from Bethlehem of Judah, his wife, and his two sons left to live in the country of Moab. Ruth 1:1.
The Moabites were historically regarded as the perpetual enemy of the Israelites, ("God's Chosen People")
Now, of all the places Elimelech could take his family to, it has to be the camp of God's enemy.
Note that Elimelech and his family were not the only family affected by the famine at that time, but they were the only one recorded to escape into a nation they were forbided not to.
Somethings don't need prayers, they only need your obedience to given instructions.
For instance, as a child of God, you don't have to pray to God about marrying an unbeliever because God's instruction is very clear on this.
He said in 2 Corinthians 6:14 that you should not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers.
Asking God for permission about what He openly warns against shows you don't know Him or you intentionally wish to kick against His instructions.
Invariably, Elimelech knew Moab was a 'no go area' yet he moved his family there. Along the line, his two sons grew up in that land married Moabites women- which is also against God's law.
A number of times, when a father takes a decision, it always have a ripple effect on his children. *As a Father, pray to God to take good and wise decisions on behalf of your family. It is wisdom for every member of the family to pray for the Father.
Unfortunately, Naomi lost her husband and two sons to that adventure. Though she later received God's mercy after she moved back to lsreal, but it is amazing to know that the famine that took them out of Isreal had changed to season of abundance long before she returned.
As a woman, help your husband in taking quality decisions and not join him in scheming evil, knowing fully well that whatever decision you take will have a ripple effect on your children.
