Text : Proverbs 10:22.
The blessing from the LORD makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow to it.
Don't disdain or trade what you have for a fantasy or mirage you might never have.
The pasture always look greener from a distance, but at a closer look, you may discover your field is actually greener.
The story was told of a man named Elimelech with his wife Naomi. The two were blessed with two goodly sons namely: Chilion and Mahlon respectively. They were Isrealites.
By the reason of the economic challenge Isreal was faced with at that time, this family decided to relocate to Moab.
Now there's nothing wrong in relocation, what is wrong is not asking from the Lord if that is His plan for you. Because as a good Father, He always have good plans for His children.
He says in Jeremiah 29:11 that He knows the plans He has for you, plans of good and not evil to give you hope and a future.
Even here on earth, every well meaning Father has good plans for his children, how much more our heavenly Father.
The problem always lies in not aligning with His plans. Below are some of the "cause and effects" of the relocation plan of Mr
Elimelech and family:
1.) *They moved because of the prevailing economic hardship of their country.*
This is one of the major reasons people move from place to place. Sensible as this may sound, it should never be your reason for relocating except the Lord instructs you to.
At a time, Isaac was about to relocate to Egypt because of economic hardship, but God specifically told him not to do so.
That’s when the LORD appeared to Isaac. “You are not to go down to Egypt,” he said. “Instead, you are to settle down in an area within this land where I’ll tell you.
Remain in this land, and I’ll be with and bless you by giving all these lands to you and to your descendants in fulfillment of my solemn promise that I made to your father Abraham. Genesis 26:2&3.
As a child of God,your life must be lived by instructions from the Lord and never by public opinion or external factors.
Note that the same God who told Isaac not to relocate told Joseph (Jesus' earthly father) to relocate to Egypt. So seek Counsel and you'll be well guided and guarded.
We'll look at some other cause and effects of this man's action tomorrow.
