PRESERVATIVES

 Text: Mat 5:13 ISV

“ *You are the salt of the world. But if the salt should lose its taste, how can it be made salty again? It’s good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled on by people.*

We established yesterday that one of the functions of salt is preservation. Today, we want to dig deeper into how we can preserve our world.

At a time, God decided to wipe out the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah plus their surroundings towns because of their many sins. Genesis 18:21, 19:13.

I'm sure this is a story you are familiar with. But you can read it all up from Genesis 19.

Abraham pleaded for the cities and after much ado, it was agreed (between God and Abraham) that if ten righteous people could be found in these two cities,  for their sakes,  the two cities will be preserved.

At this point, you can ask yourself that *if God needed just ten righteous people to save your city from destruction, would you be part of the number?*

Unfortunately,  the two Cities combined could not produce ten righteous people, hence, the inevitable destruction. However, Lot (Abraham's nephew) was found to be righteous and he was marked to be rescued from the destruction.

The angels that were to destroy these cities told Lot to run to a mountain, but he pleaded with them.

Then one of them said, “Flee for your lives! Don’t look back or stop anywhere on the plain. Escape to the hills, or you’ll be swept away!”

“No! Please, my lords!” Lot pleaded with them.

“Your servant has found favor in your sight, and you have shown me your gracious love in how you have dealt with me by keeping me alive. I cannot escape to the hills, because I’m afraid the disaster will overtake me, and I’ll die.

Look, there is a town nearby where I can flee, and it’s a small one. Let me escape there! It’s a small one, isn’t it? That way I’ll stay alive!”

“All right,” the angel replied to Lot, “I’ll agree with your request! I won’t overthrow the town that you mentioned. Genesis 19:17-21.

Now, this town and everyone in it was spared (preserved) because of Lot. The name of the town is Zoar. Gen.19:22.

*A family, school, community, etc can be preserved because of your right standing with God and vice versa.*

 *BIBLE READING*

Matthew 5:1-16.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

DECEITFULNESS OF SIN 2

TEXT. Hebrews 3:13  *But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin* .  *While deceit is a sin, Sin itself is deceitful.* Sin has the capacity to lure a man to do stuffs. *One of the major vices of the devil is to make sin appear attractive and unharmfult.* If Eve could see what the consequences of eating the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil would be, she would have resisted the deception of the man of sin. She was simply deceived.Gen, 3:6 While it is no news that all sinners are already condemned to deceitfulness of sin, it is sad to know that many children of God (like Adam and Eve), are being easily deceived by Sin. See the case of Ananias and Sapphira, Acts 5:1-13. Many Christians today are still playing the same game of smartness this couple played. I call it smartness because that was what they thought they were doing. While they thought they were smart, Peter knew that Satan h...
