Text: 2 Corinthians 4:18.
*While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.*
Apostle Paul had lots of difficulties and challenges in the course of discharging his apostolic mandates amongst several people group in various regions in Asia.He narrated his various ordeals and afflictions in 2Cor. 11:23-30.
He was more in labours, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths often. He was beaten with rods, he was once stoned, thrice he suffered shipwreck, for a night and a day he was in the deep; he was often In journeys, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by his own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.
He suffered all these, beside those things that are without, that which come upon him daily, and the care of all the churches he planted.
The above is the curriculum vitae of Apostle Paul. In contrast to many ministers of the gospel today, Paul's profile is that which is degrading and shameful by human standards.
Apostle Paul in 2Cor. 4:17, described all of the ordeals and afflictions he went through in three words(phrases).
Firstly, he described his afflictions as "Light afflictions" *You are the only one who have the right to define and label challenges in your life: If you see your challenges as an insurmountable mountain, so it would be, but if you see it as a walk over, so shall it be also.*
The second label Paul gave his affliction, was that it is for a moment. He saw his afflictions as challenges that wouldn't last long. He knew that it would only be for a short time.
You need same perspective about your own challenges. *You must see and live in the reality that your problem today, is a walk-through and walk-over tommorrow.*
Thirdly, Paul described the purpose of his afflictions as that working out eternal weight of glory. If only you are able to label your own challenges too, your deliverance and freedom would have come long while ago.
Today, may you also be like Apostle Paul to perceive and label your challenges appropriately.
BIBLE READING: 2Cor. 4:16-18.
*PRAYER FOCUS*
1. Father, help me to discern and label my challenges as a walk-through and walk-over and not as an insurmountable mountain.
