DON'T BE DISCOURAGED

 Text:  1 Samuel 30:6

*And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.*

Discouragement in a simple term can be described  as a downcast feelings, low morale or lack of motivation to do, achieve or pursue a course to the end. It is a lack  or absence of COURAGE. So, anytime courage is lacking, then one can be said to be discouraged.

There are situations that can make one to be discouraged. Such was the situation that befell David.

The Amalekites had raided his camp. They captured his wives, daughters, sons and that of his followers. The Amalekites did not just kidnapp David's families and that of his men, they also burned down the whole village (Ziklag) which was given to  David by King Achish.

Beholding this terrible situation got David and his men greatly distressed. They were so distressed to the point that they wept till they had no more power to weep. *"....Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep"

You can imagine the scenario wherein great men of war wept till they had no more power to weep. That must have been a great distress indeed. Of course, it was! Their whole livelihood and families were gone.

Are you distressed, worn out,  battered and discouraged? I want to tell you that David the mighty warrior who brought down the mighty champion of Phillistine (Goliath) once found himself in such situation. As for David, he encountered many situations that should have made him call it a quit before he ascended the throne.

Since there was no one to encourage David, he simply received grace to encourage himself in the LORD. He couldn't find encouragement in anything or anyone, only in the Lord was he able to find succour. No Bible, Preacher, Pastor, Friend or Wife to encourage him. He, all by himself found encouragement in the LORD.

*The best place to find the best and lasting encouragement is only in the Lord.* David's men that could have encouraged him were not only downcast themselves, they were so eager to use the little strength they had left to stone him.

*Only Jesus is always available and ready to help at all times, the arm of flesh will always fail.*

*Don't be deceived, the only true help that is ever present 24/7  is Jesus.*

David knew this too well. He turned to his *ever-present help, God* to enquire about the messy situation he's found himself. The Lord, who never fails heard David in time of his trouble and.sent him help. Psalms 20:1.

HE WILL SEND YOU HELP IF ONLY YOU WILL CALL ON HIM.

 *BIBLE READING:* 1 Samuel 30:1-8

 *PRAYER FOCUS*

1. Father,  give me grace to always look unto you  in my darkest hour.

2.) Thank you Lord for being the  only true 24/7 God who is lways avaible to deliver me at all times. Now Lord, I ask that you deliver me from all my distress in the name of Jesus. (Mention your situations to God. He is present with you right now.)

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
