SALVATION

TEXT : Romans 8:2


 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.* 


Soteria is the Greek word from which the word Salvation is coined. It does actually include preservation, safety and  deliverance from the molestation of enemies. (The essence of Jesus's coming to the earth was to save, deliver, preserve) man from that which has been molesting him since the fall in the garden. Hence, John introduced Jesus as the lamb that takes away the sin of the world.


 *"...Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world"John 1:29* 


You must know that the devil is not our major problem; the problem of man majorly is that the seed (sin)which the devil  had sown in man. Sin is the problem not the devil. If sin can be gotten rid of, the holdings of the enemy (devil)will be destroyed. 


 *Sin is not just an offence that  you commit. It is a law that is at work in you.* It is called the Law of Sin and Death. Romans 8:2. 


Jesus destroyed this law by overcoming sin in the days of His flesh. He condemned sin in the flesh.

 *For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh* : Romans 8:3.


Sin is of the devil, (where he got it from, no one knows). But Sin emanates from him when he decided to overthrow God.

Ezekiel 28:15 remarked  about Lucifer: *Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.* Sin destroyed the perfection of Lucifer while he was in the presence of God. He was sent down to the earth, and he sold same to man(Adam and Eve).


 Jesus conquered Satan by living above the Law of Sin and death. Jesus destroyed sin in his body even before he went to the cross. John 14:30 *Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.* 


The reason all men must come to Jesus is simply because He alone is the antidote to the power of Sin and Death. No one can break away from sin except through him.


Only Jesus saves. Only Jesus has the name that brings salvation to man. It is through Him alone man is saved from Sin.  

 *Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.* 


 *No one can be saved by his religion,  good works or self righteousness. Even church going does not save any man; only Jesus saves.*

*PRAYER FOCUS*


1. Lord, help me to see and appreciate the great price you paid for me on the cross.


2. I  receive the totality of the salvation you brought to me through the cross.

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
