WONDERFUL COUNSELOR

Text : Isaiah 9:6 

 *For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.* 

Everyone needs a counsellor. Proverbs 11:14  says *Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.*  That is, without counsel, failure is imminent. If counsel is this important,  wisdom demands that you seek for it.

However, not all counsellors can be relied on. There are good and bad counsels. Rehoboam, the king that reigned in Isreal after King Solomon,  lost more than two third of his kingdom forever because he listened to a wrong counsel.  1 kings 12:8-17.

Now, there's only one counsellor that can never go wrong. His name is Jesus Christ. He is called Wonderful Counselor. _The Net version of the Bible referred to Him as the *Extraordinary Strategist.*_ He has never failed and He will never fail.

Hear what He says in Proverbs  8:14:  _Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength._ 

 *Who is your counsellor? Whose counsels have you been listening to? You are as good as the counsels you listen to.* 

It is wisdom to follow the only one who cannot fail and heed his counsels. One of the good tidings that the birth of Jesus brings to us is that Jesus is our Counsellor- a wonderful Counsellors.

1. Father, thank you for the gift of your Son unto humanity. Thank you for sending us your only begotten Son. 

2.Dear Lord God, I ask that you give me the grace to follow all of your counsels.

WHEN GOD IS SILENT(2)

Text: Matthew 4:1  *Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.*  We saw yesterday that God was not pleased with many israelites that left Egypt for the promised land  (Corinthians 10:5).  A good percentage of the Israelites were overthrown in the wilderness.   Wilderness experience is not what any child of God desires, but it is an experience God sends or allows his children go through. In Deuteronomy 8:2, God says that He *LED* the Isrealites through the wilderness for forty years to humble them, to prove them, and to know what was in their heart whether they would keep his commandments or not.  Our Lord Jesus Christ was also *LED* into the wilderness by the Spirit of the Lord to be tempted by the devil. You will  notice there is a similar feature of the number *40(forty)* between these two wilderness experiences. That is, that of the Israelites and our Lord Jesus Christ. THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth.
