WATCH

Text : Mark 13:37

*And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.*

A common saying has it that "To be forewarned is to be forearmed" Jesus gave a very remarkable warning to all his followers that I wish to bring to your remembrance today. Jesus gave an outstanding and resounding instruction at the end of  His discourse on Mount Olive. He said,
What I say to *you* , I say unto *you all* " Mark 13:37.
The first *YOU"* in this verse talks about the disciples present with Him at that time, the " *YOU ALL* " is pointing to you and I living today.

This statement is crystal clear, hence, no one can give excuse. He warned that you should watch because you do not know when the master of the house will come, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning. Mark 13:35. Sometimes, we often forget ourselves in this world as though this is our final stop in the Journey of life. Jesus is saying to you afresh today to Watch!

To watch means that you should give close attention to, be cautious, to take heed lest through remission and indolence some destructive calamity suddenly overtake one. Watching is an active exercise not to miss out in an event or occasion.

*It is clear from the scripture, that any Christian who is not watching for the coming of the Lord, will miss out.* Jesus used many parables to stir our active watchfulness towards his coming.

Though when you come to Christ, you receive liberty. This liberty is not synonymous to reckless and frivolous living. It is not a liberty that will cause you to forget that the Master is coming back. Rather, it is a liberty in the Spirit from sin. The scripture however warned you not to use your liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love, serving one another.(Galatians  5:13).

As a Christian, your liberty demands some sort of soberness and watchfullness from you. *But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.1 Peter  4:7*

One major reason why you must be watchful is that He will come when you are not expecting.
*So you, too, must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour you are not expecting him. Mathew 24:44”*

As a watch servant  the day of the Lord must not come on you like a thief. But it will certainly come upon the world as a thief at night. Jesus will come suddenly upon the world but that shouldn't be same situation for you as a true child of God. You must be prepared always.

Are you prepared?

I often ask many church goers if they would make it if Jesus should appear this moment of our discourse. The answer I get often than not is "NO"
*There are many people in the church building every Sunday, but only very few are part of Christ's Church.*

Jesus said, *"And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch"*

Bible Reading : Mathew 25:1-13.
