THE ENCOUNTER 2

Text : John  12:9

*Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.*

After Jesus had raised Lazarus from the dead, it was recorded that much people (of the Jews) came to Jesus. John 12:9. *The miracles of God in your life should bring more people to Christ, that is how God can be glorified.*

However, these people didn't come to Jesus for Jesus' sake only, they came to see Lazarus also.  *A true encounter with Christ will draw people's attention to you, ensure you point them to the Giver and not just the gift.*

After Lazarus had been raised from the dead, you will think everyone will be happy for him. But no, new Victory opens you up to new enemies.

As a matter of fact, the seed of God's word in you will open you up for testing, this testing will either lead you to promotion or demotion in the Spirit.

Jesus said in Math. 13:21 that trouble or persecution will come along because of the word that you have received. Only your root in Him will determine whether you will stand or not.

Also,  in Matthew chapter four, we saw the record of how our Master, Jesus Christ, was led to be tested of the devil after the Holy Spirit had come upon Him.

So the spectacular encounter that Lazarus had with Christ,  which brought him from death to life equally brought him new adversaries.

*You must be prepared to win your battles, but you must be much more prepared to keep your victory.* Isn't it surprising that some of the people that came to see both Jesus and Lazarus actually came to kill Lazarus again. " _So the high priests planned to kill Lazarus, too,"_ John 12:10.

If truly you are standing in the court of Christ,  know that you have also inherited His enemies alongside His blessings.

Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

Hear what Jesus has to say to His true disciples -
If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. (John 15:18-19).

Don't be deceived,  a true encounter with Christ will make you an automatic enemy to some people. You must chose your company wisely. But it is beautiful to know that one with Christ is with majority.

Bible Reading  : John 11:1- 45.

 *PRAYER FOCUS*

1. Lord, give me the grace to stand firm in you even in the face of oppositions.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
