MEMORIES

Text : Num 11:5

We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick:

We all have memories, some are good and some are not, but don't let your past debar you entry to your future. Memory  is the  ability to record information about things or events with the facility of recalling them later at will.

Anyone with good memories will do well in examinations. This goes to show that memories can be good. However, memory is one of the things the devil uses in taking man away from the agenda of God.

God in His sovereignty chose to deliver the Isrealites from years of slavery in Egypt. Their slavery was such that they were not just manhandled, but they were being killed.

Pharaoh, the then reigning King in Egypt gave an order for all the male-child of Isreal to be killed at birth, just to control the Israelis population and prosperity. Exodus 1:8-22.

God delivered the Isrealites nonetheless amidst stiff cruelty and demoralised hardship.
Now, en route from slavery to promised land, you will think they will be jubilating all the way, but no, their memories kept them from seeing what God had done and is doing for them. Hear some of their complaints-

_How we remember the fish that we used to eat in Egypt for free! And the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions, and garlic!_ Num 11:5.

Imagine what their memories serve them with. Some memories will lead us to complain and murmur against God. It's a device of the enemy, and that's why we are told not to be ignorant of Satan's devices. 2 Cor.2:11.

Don't allow the devil to play a fast game on you through your memories. Whatever memories that make you to be bittered against God should be rightly dealt with like a plague, because it's one.

Complaining is one grievous sin before the Lord Almighty. See what He did in Num 11:1  "Eventually, the people began complaining about their distress, and the LORD heard them. When the LORD heard, his anger flared up and the LORD’s fire incinerated some of them within the outskirts of the camp."

The very thing you complain about will be treasured by another if given the opportunity. Complaining brings depreciation. Quit complaining and start appreciating and you will truly appreciate.
