TAKE  IT OFF

Text : Zechariah  3:4

_And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment._

Yesterday, we saw how the Lord rebuked satan and ordered that filthy garments be removed from Joshua the high priest. Today, we shall be looking closely at various filthy garments the Lord wants you to put offs.

The first thing you must know is that the Lord is committed to taking off your filthy garments just as He did for Joshua. But you must however know that  responsibility is laid on you to cooperate with Him in order to take off your filthy garments.

The filthy garments actually represents the body of sin which you have to take off (mortify).
".....In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, _in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ_ : col. 2:11.

The putting off of this body of sins means:

1. Putting off the deeds of the old man. Colossians 3:8 instructed us to put off these deeds: "But now you also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth."* These are deeds many Christians have struggled with for years. These deeds are garments that may not be so obvious to many.

2. Mortifying your members on earth.
Colossians 3:3 says that you are dead and your life is hid with Christ in God. This is what the Lord did for us through His death, the verse 5 now talks about what you must do as a result of the death you have experienced- you are to "Mortify" the fleshly/evil desires in your bodies.
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: Colossians 3:5(KJV).

Amplified version  put it this way:
So kill (deaden, deprive of power) the evil desire lurking in your members [those animal impulses and all that is earthly in you that is employed in sin]: sexual vice, impurity, sensual appetites, unholy desires, and all greed and covetousness, for that is idolatry (the deifying of self and other created things instead of God)

God has many glorious garments in stock to clothe you with; but until you put off your filthy garments, you cannot be clothed.

You must also know that. The best and surest  way to securing permanent deliverance from the grip of the devil is putting off deeds of the flesh.

Bible Reading: Zechariah 3:1-10.

Prayer Points

1. Father, give me grace to put off every deeds of the flesh hindering me from entering into your fullness in Jesus name.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
