Pay Attention

TEXT :  Heb 2:1

For this reason we must pay closer attention to the things we have heard, or we may drift away,

The  chapter one of the book of Hebrews 1:1-2 stated that:

_God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,  1:2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the the worlds_

The word spoken by the Father(God) unto us in these last days is Salvation.
God has spoken.
salvation unto ALL mankind through the death and resurrection of His son- Jesus Christ.

Hence Jesus is still speaking(salvation) over everyone till date. He said in _Hebrews 3:15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation_

From the above, we see once again that Jesus is still speaking even now. He, however will save only those who hear him, do His commands and abide in His will.

Two things we must do in order to be to saved to the uttermost(end) :

1. Harden not your heart.

Jesus is always speaking by His Holy Spirit, unto those that are saved (Prunning - John 15 )and those yet to be saved.(conviction of Sins).

We must however, pay attention to God's instuctions and commands.

Anyone  that continually neglects God's instructions is  hardening his own heart to his own peril

*Learn to keep a simple heart that easily turns to the Lord in repentance, a contrite and a broken spirit, God will not despise.*

Perhaps the Lord is speaking to you Now about the need for you to follow him with a simple heart of Faith.

Learning to promptly turn  to the Lord,  it's very important.

2.Take heed.

Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

The second thing that  hinders salvation is unbelief. God wants us to simply trust and obey. The whole of  Israelites(except for  Joshua and Caleb) could not enter into the promised land  because of unbelief.

Once we give ourselves to this word which we have heard; our salvation will be assured to the very end.

We must pay close attention to ourselves and to the word we have received , lest those truth we have learnt, slipped off our hands.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
