INVITATION TO REST

Text : Mathew 11:28 ISV

“Come to me, all of you who are weary and loaded down with burdens, and I will give you rest.

Everybody wants rest. Or should I say everyone needs rest. After creation of the heavens and earth, God rested on the seventh day, not from exhaustion or weariness, but because He has completed His work.
And secondly because He wants to show man that rest is part of life.

The reason many are slaving morning till night is because they desire rest for themselves at later years. The desire for rest is an inbuilt nature in man. However, not many are finding this much needed Rest.

Psalm 127:2 says It is useless to get up early and to stay up late, eating the food of exhausting labor—truly he gives sleep to those he loves. This verse is the true definition of some people's lives. They are the first to wake, the last to sleep and yet with almost nothing to show for it. This is not the plan of God for man, God's enemy has done this.
God wants you to rest. He gives sleep to those He loves, so you must know that sleep is a gift.

This is so because rest and comforts can only be found in God, outside Him is labour, struggles, and pain.

In our text, Jesus gave an open invitation to all. He said "Come to me, all of you who are weary and loaded down with burdens". In simple terms, what qualifies you to come is your acknowledgement of the fact that you are weary and loaded with burdens.
One of the greatest evil  you can do to yourself is refusing to face the truth.

Many are weary and heavy laden, yet they live as though they are not cognisant of it. Problem known they say is half-solved.
Though Jesus' invitation is to all, yet only those who see themselves as they truly are can respond to it.

Now, your part is to 'come'. Note that the caller is Jesus Christ Himself and not prophets or pastors or any such middle man.  Jesus promised to give you rest. He said "...and I will give you rest.'

Jesus is the only giver of true rest. When you go to Him, He will do what He says He will.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
