FEED THE SHEEP

Text : John 21:16

*He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.*

A large crowd kept following Jesus because they had seen the signs that he was performing by healing the sick. John 6:2. Here, Jesus gave us an example of what should be done to large gatherings. Instead of taking advantage of them by merchandising the gift of God by selling oil, handkerchiefs and all sorts to them in exchange for miracles. He wants us  to feed them.

Hear the mind of Jesus concerning this crowd - When Jesus looked up and saw that a large crowd was coming toward him, he asked Philip, “ _Where can we buy bread for these people to eat?”_John 6:5.

Jesus obviously had fed the people spiritually and now, He's concerned about feeding them physically. A true servant of God will follow this pattern.

*A true messenger of God will be more concerned about your total well-being, he will never use your situation to his advantage.*

WHO IS FEEDING YOU PRESENTLY?
What EXACTLY ARE YOU BEING FED WITH?

*You need balanced diet in the Spirit for you to grow well into maturity.* 1 Pet. 2:2.

To many of the so-called men of God,  crowd is synonymous to money - large crowd means more money, more offerings and tithes,  more sales or should I say, more preys to feed on. Whereas, Jesus'  instruction on this is very clear, He said *FEED MY SHEEP.*

Please don't get it wrong, it is not a sin to give tithe and offerings, the word of God commands us to do so. But such should be done within the house of God where you are being fed. Mal. 3:10.

*WHOEVER IS FEEDING YOU THE TRUE WORD OF GOD IS THE SHEPHERD OVER YOUR LIFE.* Knowing who this person is, is to your advantage.

However, when you as a man of God collects money in exchange for miracles, you are not different from Gehazi. Beware, Leprosy is on the way. 2 Kings 5.

Also, you as a follower should be well guided. If the reason you are following Jesus is for miracles,  know that true miracles that come from Jesus is never for sale. As a matter of fact, God wants you to graduate from being a miracle seeker to a God seeker. *A true disciple of Christ doesn't seek God for miracles, but for words of eternal life.* John 6:68.

Your occupation as a servant of Christ is to feed His flock, your responsibility as a follower of Christ is to eat His word.
