EFFECTIVE PRAYER

Text : James 5:16

Confess to one another therefore your faults (your slips, your false steps, your offenses, your sins) and pray [also] for one another, that you may be healed and restored [to a spiritual tone of mind and heart]. _The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]._

If the scripture talks about the kind of prayer that makes power available, it means that there is a pattern to praying effectively.  It also means that when we pray, power should be made available to accomplish a particular task.

The one who Prays must possess power within in order to make power available in the place of prayer.
_Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,_ Ephesians  3:20

From the above, you can see that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly more than what you ask or think; but the measure of His manifestation is commensurate to the Power at work in you.

The power at work in you is what brings about effective praying. It is the power at work in you that makes your prayer avails much. The power at work in you is what draws the presence of God into your situation. The power at work in you is what makes power available to you. So  effective praying is not about the level of your volume, your voice, length of time, or your position. It is about the power at work in you.

Have you ever wondered why someone will just say a simple prayer and power will be made available, while so many others make lots of noise but with little or no result.

This power is the manifest and working  presence of the Holy Spirit within a man. Whenever you pray, you must be aware of this presence(Holy Spirit) who dwells with you and in you.(John 14:17).
That's why the scripture says that He is the one who helps our infirmities. (Rom. 8:26). When there is no active recognition and acknowledgement of the Presence of the Spirit in your life, power will not made available to you. Acts 1:8 says that you shall receive power after the Holy Spirit has come upon you.

The Holy Spirit makes power available to you. Hence, you must know that without the Holy Spirit, you will faint in the place of prayer. He is the one who helps to stir and build up your Faith towards God.  Jude 1:20

When answers to your prayers delay, do you give up or throw in the towel. That is the normal response from mechanical prayer. Mechanical prayer is the one you do without the help of the Spirit. It takes the Holy Spirit in you to make you an importunate "Asker", "seeker" and "knocker" in the place of prayer. It takes the help of the Spirit within you to be persistent, consistent and tenacious in prayer without fainting

One who Prays effectively is one who knows how to draw the attention of heavenly presence into his situation, life and environment. An effective prayer is one that involves the assistance of the Holy Spirit.

No normal human being can pray in such situation that Peter and Silas found themselves in the prison. It takes only the Power made available by the Holy Spirit for these men to pray. They received Power from the Holy spirit, and power was made available to break the prison gate.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
