Text : Gen 19:1 ISV
The two angels entered Sodom at sunset while Lot was sitting in the gate area of the city. When Lot saw them, he got up, greeted them, bowed low with his face to the ground,
For the record, Mr Lot is a nephew of Abraham. Gen.12:5. When God called Abraham out of his father's land with the sole aim of cutting a covenant with him, Lot went with him.
Today, we shall be looking at the life of Lot in order to glean some lessons from him :
DIVINE CONNECTION : By divine providence, God placed Lot close to his destiny helper - Abraham. God didn't call Lot, He called Abraham and Lot went him. This was a good step in the right direction.
God knows about every little details of your life. You are not in the family you are right now by accident, God placed you there. A number of times, because we are oblivion of God's operation in our lives, we run ahead of Him. The English man will say if the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable.
If Lot knew that his connection to Abraham was divine, he would have done everything in his power to maintain the relationship.
Some relationship are not worth keeping, infact, you need to cut off from some people in order to fulfil your destiny, because whoever is not adding to you is taking from you, there's no middle ground, so be selective in your company.
However, there are some relationship you don't joke with. When God brings you in contact with some people, you need wisdom not to cut ties with them.
It was a divine arrangement for Lot to tag along with Abraham in the journey of life, but he was insensitive. He left him to his own peril.
Regardless of your achievements and earthly acquisitions, don't severe your relationship with those God has placed along your path to help you.
