PERILOUS TIMES

Text : 2 Timothy 3:1

*This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.*

You and I (living in the last days) are now being confronted with the perilous times. The cause of this perilous times is nothing but man.

Apostle Paul in 2Timothy 3:1-5 warned Timothy about the perils of the last days.

I will like to encourage you to carefully read through the signs of this perilous times. It is possible you are also living out some of these signs. Hence, God would have you receive grace today for a change of heart, lest you become part of the fulfillment of the perilous times.

_...People will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred._ verse 2

_They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good._

_They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God._

_They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!_

Do you see yourself exhibiting one or two of the above?. Please note that Paul was not having sinners in mind when he wrote this. All of these signs are the normal lifestyles of anyone without Christ. He was basically concerned about the people in the Church. Book of 2Timothy 3:5-9 confirmed the people Paul had in mind as he wrote to Timothy.

*While sinners need to repent from their sins, and receive Jesus as their Saviour and Lord, believers also need to wake up from their slumber, deny SELF and carry their cross daily.*

*What will make the last days perilous times is not so much about the behaviour of the people in the world but of the people in the church.*

Bible Reading : 2Timothy 3:1-15.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
