MRS NABAL(ABIGAIL)

Text : 1 Sam 25:25 ISV

*Please, your majesty, don’t pay attention to this worthless man Nabal, for he’s just like his name. Nabal is his name and folly is his constant companion. But I, your servant, didn’t see your majesty’s young men whom you sent.*

Do you know that our text today was uttered by a wife as regards her own husband?

As much as Nabal was foolish enough to have offeneded the Lord's anointed(David), Abigail too did not fully discharge her duty appropriately. No foolish husband would ever want to hear the kind of statement Abigail made behind her husband. The moment a lady mistakenly joins herself to a  Nabal, she is only left with the option of asking for God's intervention for supply of wisdom and change of heart. That was not the case of Abigail.

Let us carefully see the role Abigail played:

*1. She despised and reviled her husband instead of simply begging on his behalf* . _Let not my lord regard this worthless fellow, Nabal, for as his name is, so is he. Nabal is his name, and folly is with him._ 1Sam 25:25.

*Do not expose your  spouse's weakness to third party, especially when you know that he or she cannot receive help from such quarters* .

*2. Abigail had no team spirit.*  _But I your servant did not see the young men of my lord, whom you sent._ 1Sam 25:25

She simply revealed to David that she is better than Nabal. She never showed the spirit of oneness.*If  you are always quick to exonerate yourself from your spouse's error and faults, you may simply be saying that you are not yet one flesh* Though It is not good to associate yourself with your spouse in evil, but you have the responsibility of taking his sins before the Lord in prayer as though you are the offender. This is the reason why you(singles) must be careful who you tangle with in marriage.

*3. Abigail was in a wrong marriage.*

Abigail had requested of David thus: _"....And when the Lord has dealt well with my lord, then remember your servant.”_

Why would a married woman be asking that another man remeber her? Is it for appointment or contract in his government?  Of course Nabal was a rich man too. The simple fact is that Abigail was tired of her marriage.

Truly, David remembered her immediately Nabal died. He took her over as his wife after the demise of Nabal.(which was ten days later). 1Sam 25:39-42

There are so many _'Abigails'_ in marital relationship with Mr. Nabal today. They have missed it and they are full of regrets and pains. They  sometimes wished their spouses dead so they can be fre from the tie like Abigail.  *No matter how bad, evil or foolish your spouse may be, wishing him or her death is not the way out. Such wishes only reveals that you are more wicked and devilish* . As long as you are prayerful and patient, the  Lord will turn your spouse around in Jesus name. But let the singles watch out and be prayerful  so as not to enter into any  relationship with Nabal.

Bible Reading 1 Samuel 25:2-44.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
