BOASTFUL & PROUD*

Text : 2 Timothy 3:2

*...They will be boastful and proud...*

Today, we shall be looking at another sign of perilous times as stated in 2Tim chapter 3. Apostle Paul mentioned that people will be boastful and proud in the last days. Today, we are already seeing the progressive Fulfilment of this in our churches and on the pulpits. So many proud and boastful preachers are on the pulpits. Many in the church are proud and boastful of their abilities, giftings, riches, titles, anointing, achievement, the list is endless.

*One major antidote to Pride and Boastfulness is to always know that everything you have is from God.*

_... What do you have that God hasn’t given you? And if everything you have is from God, why boast as though it were not a gift?_ 1Cor. 4:7

While you can easily notice boastings, it may not be easy to identify pride in certain people. For some people, pride is embedded deep down in the heart. Therefore, only God can see it. While boastings can easily be seen on the outward, pride may not. Pride is more subtle than boast. You can easily identify boastings but not Pride.

Boast is often based on achievements, status, position, possessions and on few occasions on NOTHING. Pride on the other hand does not necessarily need an obvious or outward platform to ride on. Man in his fallen state can take pride in anything. It will surprise you to know that man can even take pride in his poverty.

It is possible you have come across an arrogant and proud poor man. He has nothing (no possession, no status and no Christ) but he is full of pride. Please do not mix it up. A genuine child of God has good ground to GLORY, but, *only* in the Lord Jesus Christ and nothing else.

_But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world_ .Galatians 6:14

Despite the slight difference in the expressions of Boast and Pride, both are of the same family. They are bird of the same feathers. You cannot have one without the other.

*You need to resist Pride lest God resists you* ,

*But he giveth more grace to the humble.*

_Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble._ James 4:6

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
