DISTRACTIONS

Text : 2Sam 11:2 WEB

*At evening, David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king’s house. From the roof, he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to look at.*

*One of the most powerful wiles of the enemy against fulfilment of mandate is Distractions.*

Though David had been anointed by Prophet Samuel as the king of Israel. It took him about fifteen years before he eventually ascended the throne.

What was he doing within this period? You might asked.

Well, It was then that he faced Goliath, was banished by Saul, hid in the desert, lived on the run, forced out of the nation, and fought many battles.

He was encumbered with a lot of troubles and life-threatening challenges to say the least. Yet God gave him victory in them all.

Probably based on his experience, he said in Psa 34:19, that " *Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all."*

One would naturally think that David will fall into the enemies' trap because of his numerous troubles that have characterized his life.

But No, he was delivered from them all. This is because, each problem took him closer to God.

*Problems are designed to take you closer to God and not the other way round. LET THAT CHALLENGE PUSH YOU TO GOD.*

Real problem came after David had been well settled on the throne.

*Don't lose your guard just because all seems well, it's not over until it's over. You should be more at alert in your time of comfort,*

It was recorded that during the time of year when kings go off to war, David sent out Joab, along with his personal staff and all of Israel’s army. They utterly destroyed the Ammonites and then attacked Rabbah while David remained in Jerusalem.2Sa 11:1.

*An idle mind they say is the devil's workshop. Fight idleness, laziness and procrastination with every fiber within you*

David's problem started from this singular act of delegating his duty to his right-hand man - Joab. When he was supposed to be at the battle front, he was sleeping and resting during war time, then for lack of what to do, he decided to take a walk on the roof of his house where a distraction has been set for him.

He saw a woman bathing and he was captured by her beauty. While not going to the warfront may not be a sin in itself, it afforded him too much time to engage in unworthy business.

What started as an innocent , impulse distractions, led to an irreparable generational loss.

It took David to go outside his bedroom before he was distracted. Today, you don't need to leave the spot you are to be distracted. All you need is your smart phone in your hands.

One so called innocent chat, video clips, party, outings, or even friendship can constitute a big distraction which may cost much fortune.

*Distractions are real, and they are everywhere. It is wisdom to Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.* Pro 4:23.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
