WISE HARLOT 2

Text : Joshua 2:1.

 *And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying, Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into an harlot's house, named Rahab, and lodged there.* 

Yesterday, we looked into some of the features that qualified Rahab to be regarded as a wise harlot. Today, we shall look into more of these features. 

However, it's important to note again that Rahab is a type of a fallen man, If she received salvation, then, man has a big hope through Jesus Christ. *God has made adequate provision for man to transit from being a harlot, who has prostituted with this world, to being the redeemed of the Lord.* 

Below are some of the steps she took :

1. She took them to the roof of her house. Joshua 2:6.

The roof is the topmost layer of any house. She didn't just welcome these soldiers in her house, she hid them at the topmost part of the house. 

This connotes that *God must be given the topmost priority in your life. When you make God your number one, He will make you His priority.* Matt. 6:33.

2. She covered them with flax. 

 _But she had brought them up to the roof of the house, and hid them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order upon the roof._ Jos 2:6.

She did this, so they would not be discovered by the King's men. 

It is not enough to hear God's word, you must treasure it enough so it doesn't slip from you. 

Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.Heb 2:1.

Prov. 23:23 says Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.

You must *consciously treasure the seed of God's word in your heart and guide it jealously so it doesn't slip away.* 

3. She pleaded for mercy. 

 _Now therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by the LORD, since I have shewed you kindness, that ye will also shew kindness unto my father's house, and give me a true token:_ Jos 2:12. She didn't leave anything to chance, she opened her mouth and begged for mercy. 

Don't miss your day of visitation *. Be wise enough to ask mercy from the only one who can deliver you-Jesus, the son of God.* 

4. She extended the Salvation to everyone in her household. Through this 'harlot', everyone in her father's house was delivered from destruction. 

 *Extend the love of God to everyone within your circle of influence.* 

 *But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.*

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. WHEN GOD IS SILENT(2)

Text: Matthew 4:1  *Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.*  We saw yesterday that God was not pleased with many israelites that left Egypt for the promised land  (Corinthians 10:5).  A good percentage of the Israelites were overthrown in the wilderness.   Wilderness experience is not what any child of God desires, but it is an experience God sends or allows his children go through. In Deuteronomy 8:2, God says that He *LED* the Isrealites through the wilderness for forty years to humble them, to prove them, and to know what was in their heart whether they would keep his commandments or not.  Our Lord Jesus Christ was also *LED* into the wilderness by the Spirit of the Lord to be tempted by the devil. You will  notice there is a similar feature of the number *40(forty)* between these two wilderness experiences. That is, that of the Israelites and our Lord Jesus Christ.
