GIVE

Text : Luke 6:38.

*Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.*

When my little boy was much younger,  if he needs anything from you, he will quote " it's good to give", but if you need him to give you anything,  he will say "beggy beggy is not good o."

Funny as that may sound,  that's exactly the disposition of many Christians towards giving. We are fast to receive  but slow to give.

We know it is more blessed to give than to receive. Acts 20:35. Yet,  many prefer to be the receiver rather than the giver.

*Somethings don't just answer to prayers, they answer to principles, and   giving is one of those things.*

One of the teachings  Jesus gave to His disciples is 'GIVING'. To receive is to give.

And  *one beautiful thing about giving is, you always get more than you gave, so be careful what you give.*

You will receive in multiple folds whatever you have given to others. Now, this giving cuts across boards. Jesus did not specify what to give,  He simply said GIVE.

A number of times, people tend to give to the rich because behind their minds, they knew the rich has the capacity to repay. Well,  this is not the kind of giving Jesus prescribed. As a matter of fact,  He specifically mentioned that your giving must be targeted towards the poor and you are to be discreet about it.

*“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of people in order to be noticed by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.* Mat 6:1.

So whenever you give to the poor, don’t blow a trumpet before you like the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets so that they will be praised by people. I tell all of you with certainty, they have their full reward!

But when you give to the poor, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,

so that your giving may be done in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. Matt.  6:2-4.

*We give not because we have surplus, but because we love Him and chose to obey Him.*

*The quality of your gift is not determined by the quantity  but by the motives and manner with which you gave.*

REMEMBER, GOD LOVES A CHEERFUL GIVER. 2 Cor.  9:7.

 *PRAYER FOCUS*

1. lord,  help me to be a cheerful giver.

2. Help me to know that my rewarder is God and not the recipient of my gift.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

WAY MAKER-2

Text: Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing: now it shall spring forth: shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness,  and rivers in the desert. God promised that He will do a new thing for you, and that He will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. He has done this before, and He will do it again even in your own life.  When the children of Israel left Egypt, the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them, encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.(Exodus 14:9). Just like anyone would react, the Isrealites became so fearful because there is neither way forward nor back for them to escape. Before them was the red sea, behind them were the Egyptian armies. They became perplexed and began to murmur against Moses. It is possible you are also in a situation like the Israelites- No way forward, and no way behind. Things may appear like you are ...

BEWARE OF DOGS

Text :  Philippians 3:2. Beware of the dogs! Beware of the evil workers! Beware of the mutilators! Usually, when you see the inscription "BEWARE OF DOGS", you instantly know there's a wild or trained dog around the corner, hence, the need to beware.  However, when God says 'Beware of dogs,' He wasn't actually referring to dogs as in 'animals' but to animals in human skin. Note that this caution was given to believers against other so-called  believers.  That is, some people within the church that we refer to as brothers and sisters are actually operating in the capacity of dogs.Though fellow worshippers in the church are called brothers and sisters, but if they behave like wild animals, know that they are dogs in humans skin- BEWARE. Matthew  7:6 says *Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.*  Essentially, dogs don't have capacity to r...
