AGAINST HOPE

Text. : Romans 4:18

*Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be* .

There are situations that stir at you and all you see is hopelessness. But  *When you make up your mind to choose God as your ultimate Hope in all situation, you shall never be stranded in this world.* .

Today, God would have us look into the life of a Moabitess who followed God's plan all the way, even in the absence of any word of encouragement or definte promise to rely on.

Ruth(the Moabitess), did not receive any direct word from God, yet she believed in hope against hope.

Ruth simply saw the God of Israel as One that can be relied on. After much discouraging and hopeless words from Naomi, all that Ruth would say was:

_Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God. Wherever you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord punish me severely if I allow anything but death to separate us!”_

Ruth 1:16 -17

By this statement, Ruth simply cut a covenant with the God of Naomi unknowingly. This statement caught the attention of the God of Israel and signed up Ruth as the great grandmother of our Lord Jesus Christ. Little did  Ruth know that she was making a decision to enter into the eternal plan of God by her stern determination to follow Naomi.

*Little did you know that some of the day to day decisions you make are trans-generational that will outlive your stay on earth* .

*Be carful how you make and take decisions, it's not all about you after all.*

Naomi painted a realistic picture of her hopelessness and that of her two daughters-in- law to them. She told them that they have no hope of getting husbands through her anymore. Naomi explicitly stated these words of  Hopelessness in clear terms:

1. No more sons in her womb (Ruth 1:11).

2. She is too old to have another.husband.(Ruth 1:12).

3. Even if she should have a husband and give birth to sons overnight, they can't wait for them to grow.  (Ruth 1:13)

After these Hopeless manifesto of Naomi, the two daughters- in-law wept bitterly. Afterwards, they counted their cost. Orpah left but Ruth  cleaved to Naomi.

*That your situation looks hopeless does not mean it is to God, He is the very Hope you must always see in all situations .*

 *PRAYER FOCUS*

1. Lord, comfort and strengthen my heart to believe in hope even when my situations seem to be hopeless.

 *Bible Reading:* Ruth 1:12-22.
