TENDENCIES

Text : Gen 18:19. 

 *Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting* . 

 *Sometimes you surprise yourself by doing what you never believed you could do. This is because there are tendencies you carry within you that you are not aware of* 

While you are aware of some certain tendencies, you are not aware of larger chunk of what you are capable of doing.

David knew about this very well. And that was the reason for his prayer in Psalm 139:23-24.

Tendencies are likelihood of behaving in a particular way or going in a particular direction.

For David not to be a victim of evil tendencies anymore(perhaps after he took Bathsheba and killed Uriah her husband-(1King 11:1-20); he praye,d to God that:

1. *God should search him.* To search can also mean to examine thouroughly or to investigate. This is a critical prayer that gives God complete access to open you up and reveal what is on your deep inside. This kind of prayer can only be made by those who sincerely want the help of God. In submission to God's thorough search, you will need the help of:

 _A. God's word_ 

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Heb 4:12

 *God's word does not only reveals your thoughts and intents but most importantly, it does renew them.* And consequently renewing your whole life. 

 _B. Holy Spirit_ *The very Spirit of God that knows the things of God is the same Spirit every child of God has received.* 

 _For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 1Cor2:11-12_ 

Allow the word of God to wash you off all evil tendencies.

WHEN GOD IS SILENT(2)

Text: Matthew 4:1  *Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.*  We saw yesterday that God was not pleased with many israelites that left Egypt for the promised land  (Corinthians 10:5).  A good percentage of the Israelites were overthrown in the wilderness.   Wilderness experience is not what any child of God desires, but it is an experience God sends or allows his children go through. In Deuteronomy 8:2, God says that He *LED* the Isrealites through the wilderness for forty years to humble them, to prove them, and to know what was in their heart whether they would keep his commandments or not.  Our Lord Jesus Christ was also *LED* into the wilderness by the Spirit of the Lord to be tempted by the devil. You will  notice there is a similar feature of the number *40(forty)* between these two wilderness experiences. That is, that of the Israelites and our Lord Jesus Christ. GULLIBLE BUT INTELLIGENT

Text : Mat 25:31-32  *When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:*   *And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:*  Have you ever wondered why Jesus compared His followers to sheep and not goats?  Sheep has reputation for being stupid, defenceless and harmless creatures that mope about on hillsides doing not very much. They are good for two things: being eaten and producing wool.
