MONUMENTS

Text : Psa 103:2 ISV

*Bless the LORD, my soul, and never forget any of his benefits:*

Monuments are structures built for commemorative or symbolic reasons, or as a memorial. One major reason monuments are built is for remembrance.

*Human beings have high tendencies of forgetting good done to them over time, you should break away from this gene.*

David had this understanding, that was why he told his soul to never forget any of God's benefits, Ps. 103:2.

By nature, man's wants are insatiable. That's why most people's prayers are full of requests (yet to be fulfilled needs) than Thanksgiving.

Now, even God doesn't want us to forget any of His benefits.

As soon as the entire nation of Israel had completed its crossing of the Jordan river, the LORD spoke to Joshua. He told him to select 12 men, one from the 12 tribes of Israel who will represent the rest. They were to pick stones and use it to build a monument (memorial) of God's faithfulness unto them. Joshua 4:1-4. It's time for you to start picking stones of God's goodness in your life.

With this monument, they will not just remember the deliverance that God wrought for them, but they will use it to tell the story to their children. Over and over again, we see the Lord telling the Israelites to always remember His good and wondrous works amidst them. Duet. 5:15, 7:18, 8:2,15:15,16:3.

It is instructional for you to build a monument of God's faithfulness in your life today. *Just look back and reflect on how Good God has been to you in the past. Selah.* Think about His deliverances, the breakthroughs, the healings, the unmerited favour, just reflect on all His benefits. Those are your monuments. Build it conscientiously.

*Whenever you are confronted with a seemingly difficult situation, confront same with the monuments of God's faithfulness to you in the past.*

*If He has done it before, He will do it again. Even if you have not experienced it before, remember He promised He will do a new thing* . Isaiah 43:19.

The enemy doesn't want you to remember the goodness of God towards you in the past, so you will lack the confidence to seek His face for another.

When Jesus Christ wanted to call Lazarus forth from the dead, He said, "I thank you for you always hear me... " John 11:42. That's a monument. *Acknowledging His previous goodness gives you the platform for receiving new ones.*

Tell your soul never to forget any of His benefits. Do this so that all of the people of the earth may know how strong the power of the LORD is, and so that you may fear the LORD your God every day.”Jos 4:24.

 *PRAYER FOCUS*

1. Lord, please forgive me for being an ingrate, always remembering what I have not gotten, but not the ones you've done.

2. I receive the Grace to consciously build monuments of your faithfulness in my life.

Bible Reading : Joshua 4:1-24.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

WHEN GOD IS SILENT(2)

Text: Matthew 4:1  *Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.*  We saw yesterday that God was not pleased with many israelites that left Egypt for the promised land  (Corinthians 10:5).  A good percentage of the Israelites were overthrown in the wilderness.   Wilderness experience is not what any child of God desires, but it is an experience God sends or allows his children go through. In Deuteronomy 8:2, God says that He *LED* the Isrealites through the wilderness for forty years to humble them, to prove them, and to know what was in their heart whether they would keep his commandments or not.  Our Lord Jesus Christ was also *LED* into the wilderness by the Spirit of the Lord to be tempted by the devil. You will  notice there is a similar feature of the number *40(forty)* between these two wilderness experiences. That is, that of the Israelites and our Lord Jesus Christ. The Israelites spent 40years, Jesu...
