FAMILY

Text : Gen 18:19. 

 *For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.* 

God is always interested in families. He said He has singled Abraham out because He knows he will direct his sons and their families to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just. 

It's an open truth that the only institute that did not come by reason of the fall of man is 'family'. And one thing the enemy is bent on destroying is the family. 

Take sampling of families around you (starting from your immediate family to your extended, then to other families) and see what percentage are pure and seeking after God. 

After God had destroyed the ancient world with a mighty flood. 2 Peter 3:6. He started human race again with a family, Gen. 8:15-19. This goes to show that God is still interested in families.  

The very first commandment with a promise centers on family. Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)Eph 6:2 KJV.

Come to think of it, *every single person on the face of the earth is a product of one family or the other. What is your contribution to your family?* 

Joshua says, as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Can you say the same thing about you and your family? 

 Yes *you may not have much say over your family of orientation (where you come from), but you are definitely responsible for what happens to your family of procreation* .* 

Do not cooperate with the devil to destroy the plans of God over your family. 

God doesn't want anyone to live in isolation, that's why He placed everybody in a family. Even our Lord Jesus who came to save mankind didn't just jump down from the sky, He was giving birth to in a family. Families are meant to nurture, guide, love and care for one another. But there are many disoriented families today. However, all Glory to God who has provisioned for us not just a biological family but a spiritual family too.  

The moment a man is born again, he becomes a member of God's family. In this family, God is our father, (Rom 8:15). And the rest of us are brothers and sisters, Jesus Christ being our senior brother. Matt. 12:50.

Now, *it is anormally to claim to be God's child and not belong to God's family through His Son Jesus.* God desires that we live and dwell together in love and harmony. Psalm 133:1. He want us to work and walk together as one body till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:Eph 4:13.

 *Note that you can be a member of a local Church or even a worker and not be a member of God's family.* 

 Are you a member of God's family? Which of His family unit(church) do you belong to? He will connect you with the right family if you sincerely ask Him to.

WHEN GOD IS SILENT(2)

Text: Matthew 4:1  *Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.*  We saw yesterday that God was not pleased with many israelites that left Egypt for the promised land  (Corinthians 10:5).  A good percentage of the Israelites were overthrown in the wilderness.   Wilderness experience is not what any child of God desires, but it is an experience God sends or allows his children go through. In Deuteronomy 8:2, God says that He *LED* the Isrealites through the wilderness for forty years to humble them, to prove them, and to know what was in their heart whether they would keep his commandments or not.  Our Lord Jesus Christ was also *LED* into the wilderness by the Spirit of the Lord to be tempted by the devil. You will  notice there is a similar feature of the number *40(forty)* between these two wilderness experiences. That is, that of the Israelites and our Lord Jesus Christ. GULLIBLE BUT INTELLIGENT

Text : Mat 25:31-32  *When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:*   *And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:*  Have you ever wondered why Jesus compared His followers to sheep and not goats?  Sheep has reputation for being stupid, defenceless and harmless creatures that mope about on hillsides doing not very much.
