BE OF GOOD CHEER

Text : John 16:33

*These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world* .

*We often loose faith because we loose sight of Jesus Christ our faithful and merciful High Priest* .

"Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; ..."Hebrews 12:2

While Jesus was preparing for His crucifixion some 2000 years ago, one of the fundamental counsels He gave His disciples was to be of good cheer because He has overcome the world.

Just as He said to the disciples thousands of years ago, He is still saying same to you today:

In our text, you will realise that:

*1. Jesus Christ had spoken certain things:*

It is your duty to find out those things which our Lord had spoken. You find your peace in His sayings. Acts 3:22, Heb 1:1-2.

*2. You will have tribulation in this world:*

2Cor.4:17, Rom. 5:3,1John 5:4

*Please, don't be deceived, our Faith in Jesus Christ does not shield us from tribulations in this world, but it does gives us victory over the world itself.*

*3. You have Peace in Christ alone:*

Jesus had always promised all His genuine followers Peace. *While Peace may not necessarily be the absence of war without, it is the presence of Rest, Tranquility and Calmness within even in the face of tribulations.*

While Jesus and His disciples were on the sea. The Lord had a deep sleep that He couldn't noticed the troubles on the sea. When they eventullay woke Him. He simply gave the peace within to the restlessness without.

"...Peace be still", Jesus said to the boisterous wind. Mark 4:39

*Always remember that while you are living on this side of eternity, it's only in Jesus, the Son of God you have PEACE and only Him gives peace. Nothing and No one else can offer you PEACE except Him.*

*4. Jesus wants you to Be of good courage:*

"Be of good cheer", Jesus told His disciples. You need good courage to withstand the assaults of the devil, pressing and pressure of this world.

You need courage to grasp the promise of God for your life. It takes only the courageous to get into the promised land. Joshua 1:8

This is no empty courage. It is courage in the living God.This is Courage that emanates from God Himself.

 *PRAYER FOCUS*

1. Lord, I receive your peace even in the midst of my distress in Jesus name.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
