DON'T FORGET

Text: Deuteronomy 8:11

*But that is the time to be careful! Beware that in your plenty you do not forget the Lord your God and disobey his commands, regulations, and decrees that I am giving you today.*

(AMP version)

Many folks find It easier to remember the Lord during difficult and trying times than when they are living and basking in comforts and plenty. Infact, this is the reason some go to church. They go to church to simply 'consult God' to help solve their problems. Once they receive some ease from their PROBLEMS, they just ease God out of their lives as well. That is the time they get busy and no time for God anymore.

Human beings are naturally dubious in nature. When they are in need, they will make all kinds of promises to God: Lord if you give me this job, I will serve you all the days of my life; if you give me a child he will serve you like Samuel; if you give me this and that I will be in church everyday of the week. These and more are the promises some folks make while they are in need. The moment their needs are met, they start telling all kinds of stories.

One thing is that, man easily forgets. This is the reason God warned the Israelites. " _Becareful that you do not forget the Lord in not keeping His commandments_ .... Deut. 8:11

Man can easily adapts to a new environments and forget where he is coming from within a matter of days. If a boy who has lived in the Ghetto all through his youthful age suddenly rises to a noble position, he quickly forgets the pain, suffering and poverty he experienced while growing up. This is the case of many leaders in the world today. But Joseph in the bible was never like that. He knew why he was in Egypt.

Joseph did not allow his position, glamour, abundance and riches make him forget the reason he was in Egypt. He said to his brethren who sold him into slavery, " _And God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance_ "Genesis 45:7

When God brings you into comfort, surplus, and your wealthy place, you must be very careful not to forget Him. That was the admonition for the Israelites.

God told them that they should becareful when they come into the promised land... _Lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein; And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver_ _and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied; Then thine heart be lifted up, and_ thou forget the _LORD thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of_ bondage; _Deut 8:12-14_

God has no problem blessing you beyond your imaginations but he is warning you to be careful that your heart be not lifted.

Do not allow pride in your heart after the Lord might have lifted you. When you begin to think In your heart that your hands has fetched you all your achievements in life, that is the moment your heart is lifted. If you don't quickly ask for His help, you will forget Him. The moment you forget God, You no longer give Him glory.

*BUILD A MONUMENT IN YOUR HEART THAT WILL ALWAYS REMIND YOU OF GOD'S FAITHFULNESS LEST YOUR HEART BE LIFTED AND FORGET THE LORD WHO IS YOUR HELPER* .

PRAYER REQUEST.

1. Lord help my heart not to be lifted against you in Jesus name.

2.Father help me not to forget your faithfulness over my life when I get to my wealthy place.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

WHEN GOD IS SILENT(2)

Text: Matthew 4:1  *Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.*  We saw yesterday that God was not pleased with many israelites that left Egypt for the promised land  (Corinthians 10:5).  A good percentage of the Israelites were overthrown in the wilderness.   Wilderness experience is not what any child of God desires, but it is an experience God sends or allows his children go through. In Deuteronomy 8:2, God says that He *LED* the Isrealites through the wilderness for forty years to humble them, to prove them, and to know what was in their heart whether they would keep his commandments or not.  Our Lord Jesus Christ was also *LED* into the wilderness by the Spirit of the Lord to be tempted by the devil. You will  notice there is a similar feature of the number *40(forty)* between these two wilderness experiences. That is, that of the Israelites and our Lord Jesus Christ. The Israelites spent 40years, Jesu...
