CLOTHE YOURSELF

Text : Col 3:12.

 *Therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.* 

Responsibility is laid on you as God's elect to cloth yourself. No one will put the clothe on you, not even the Holy Spirit, but YOURSELF. 

Well, before we look into the garments you are to clothe yourself with, it is imperative to note that no sane person wears two or three dresses together and posed himself as 'well dressed'. 

Rather, to be well dressed, you must remove your former dress and put on a new attire. 

The same thing applies in the Spirit. To be properly clothed, you must have put off your former clothing. Verse eight of colossians three spelt out the things you must put off. 

But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.Col 3:8.

It will interest you to know that this book of Colossian was written to believers in Christ. 

" *To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ."Col 1:2.* Yes, they were addressed as Saints and faithful brethren, yet they still have need to put off the same thing you are being admonished to put off now. 

To be correctly clothed in the spirit, you have to put off and mortify the deeds of the flesh. You are also not expected to stay naked, after putting off one cloth, you must of necessity put on another. 

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Col 3:12. All these are not materials that you can purchase in the market, they are rather acquire through knowledge. They are God's properties which can only be gotten in Christ, and which are to be renewed through the knowledge of the Holy. 

 *And have clothed yourselves with the new nature, which is being renewed in full knowledge, consistent with the image of the one who created it.Col 3:10.* 

 *Everything that pertains to life and Godliness can only be gotten through knowledge* . His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness *through the full knowledge of the one who called us by his own glory and excellence.* 2Petet 1:3.

 *For this reason, you must make every effort to add knowledge to faith. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;* 2Pet 1:5.

Every man is wearing a garment in his soul. All the works of the flesh as spelt out in Galatians 5 are man's "wearings" in the soul. They were put on in Adam. And now that you are in Christ, you must put on another clothing which is produced when you cooperate with the Holy Spirit through your recreated spirit. Gal 5:19-23.

 *PRAYER FOCUS* 

1. Ask for the infilling of the Holy Spirit.

2. Ask for Grace to put off works of the flesh by allowing the Holy Spirit to bear His fruit in you.

Text: Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing: now it shall spring forth: shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness,  and rivers in the desert. God promised that He will do a new thing for you, and that He will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. He has done this before, and He will do it again even in your own life.  When the children of Israel left Egypt, the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them, encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.(Exodus 14:9). HIS VOICE- 2

Text : John 10:3. To him the porter opens; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out. We established yesterday that one thing you can't joke with as a true follower of Christ is *His Voice.* You must recognise and hearken to (obey) His voice. It is in doing this that your safety is assured.  Today, we want to see another responsibility of the Shepherd over His sheep.  To him the porter opens; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calls his own sheep by name, *and leads them out.* John 10:3.  He called you, that He might lead you. It is not enough for you to hear or recognise His Voice, you must allow Him to lead you as well.  Romans 8:14 says *For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.*   The Spirit leading you determines the family you belong to.
