CAREFUL OBSERVATION

Text : 1Kings 3:21 ISV

*The next morning, I got up to nurse my son, and he was dead. But when I examined him carefully in the light of day, he turned out not to be my son whom I had borne!”*

The story was told about two harlots who got pregnant at the same time and both gave birth to a boychild each. In the course of time, one of them mistakenly slept over her child till the baby dies.

Being a prostitute, chances are that she didn't even know who the father of the child was, yet, she couldn't bear to lose her child. She resolved to

stealing the child of her supposed roommate, who like her was equally a prostitute and an heavy sleeper too.

While her roommate was sleeping, she exchanged her dead son with the living one of her partner. This evil would have gone unnoticed but for the carefulness of the later prostitute.

While reporting the incident to the king she said:

"The next morning, I got up to nurse my son, and he was dead. But when I examined him carefully in the light of day, he turned out not to be my son whom I had borne!” 1King 3:21 ISV.

I know you are familiar with this story, but let's glean some few lessons from the lives of these harlots.

1. *They were mothers at heart.* One thing that is synonymous with harlots is abortions, but these ones brought forth new life. They could choose to terminate the new life that God was birthing through them, rather, they migrated from being harlots to being mothers.

*It takes mothers to conceive and nurture a seed but prostitutes terminate theirs. Be a mother at heart! Raise and nurture that goodly seed in you* .

Just like these women; Mankind, like a prostitute has been walking away from the agenda of God since the fall in the garden. Rom. 3:23. But the gift of God came through Jesus Christ to birth a new life in man, Rom.6:23.

A number of people are not receiving the gift of God (gift of salvation) offered to them. Titus 2:11. While some of those that have accepted the seed of salvation are aborting this new life.

*Let Christ make his home in your heart through faith, so you may be rooted and grounded in love,*

2. *Careful observation :* Worthy of note is what the second woman did. Situation of life had changed a living baby to a dead one for her, but instead of wailing and forming pity party, she looked carefully at what was on her plate and realised that that was not the gift of God to her. She swung into action and got her baby back. She would have ended up with a dead child if not for her careful observation.

*Don't settle for the enemy's ploy, challenge everything that is not in conformity with the will of God for your life with His word.*

*God's thoughts towards you are thoughts of peace and not of evil. Resist anything that wants to take His peace from you.*

 *PRAYER FOCUS*

1. Receive the Grace to birth His plans and purpose for your life.

2. Reject everything that stands contrary to His will in your life.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

WHEN GOD IS SILENT(2)

Text: Matthew 4:1  *Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.*  We saw yesterday that God was not pleased with many israelites that left Egypt for the promised land  (Corinthians 10:5).  A good percentage of the Israelites were overthrown in the wilderness.   Wilderness experience is not what any child of God desires, but it is an experience God sends or allows his children go through. In Deuteronomy 8:2, God says that He *LED* the Isrealites through the wilderness for forty years to humble them, to prove them, and to know what was in their heart whether they would keep his commandments or not.  Our Lord Jesus Christ was also *LED* into the wilderness by the Spirit of the Lord to be tempted by the devil. You will  notice there is a similar feature of the number *40(forty)* between these two wilderness experiences. That is, that of the Israelites and our Lord Jesus Christ. The Israelites spent 40years, Jesu...
