VAGABONDS

Text : Gen 4:16 KJV

And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.

The very first man on earth to be called a vagabond was Cain. (Gen. 4:14). Yet to a natural man, Cain doesn't look like a vagabond.

According to the dictionary, a vagabond is One who wanders from place to place, having no fixed dwelling, or not abiding in it, and usually without the means of honest livelihood.

This definition doesn't fit the description of Cain as we have it recorded in Gen. 4:17.

*And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.* Gen 4:17. Here, Cain had a wife, he had children, and he builded a city, not Just a house or an estate, but a city. This is a full definition of what people of this world refer to as Success.

As a matter of fact, the Bible gave us a detailed account of the "successes' of some of the children of Cain. (Gen 4:17-22). Yet, this is a man under a serious curse. A man who had been labelled VAGABOND.

Obviously, the Bible and the dictionary or by extension, the worldly system has a divergent views of who a vagabond is.

*So, who is a vagabond according to the Bible?*

1. *He is a cursed man.* Gen. 4:11. Any one living under a curse is a vagabond.

Ever since the fall of man, man has been living under a curse. When Adam fell, the ground (earth) was cursed because of him.Gen.3:17. So regardless of the seemingly great achievements of man, it's still an achievement under a curse.

But praise be to God, who sent us His son Jesus Christ.

Anyone in Christ is no longer living under the curse.

Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:Gal 3:13.

Physical achievements and worldy success is no indication that the life is free from curse.

2. *He is unrepentant :* Cain was the first man who opened the portal to many evils. He was the first murderer. He was the first man to receive curse directly from God. Gen. 4:11. (Adam only brought curse to the ground Gen. 3:17). Yet, he was unrepentant.

Today, many vagabonds are roaming the streets, going to church, getting married and having children. Yet because they seem to be recording some sort of feats, (either big or small) they turn deaf ears to God's message of repentance to them.

If the Lord is calling on you to amend your ways in one aspect or the other, do not harden your heart. Do not go the way of Cain.

*He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.* Pro 29:1. May this not be your portion in Jesus name.

DO NOT EVER MAKE A MISTAKE OF USING YOUR SUCCESS TO JUDGE GOD'S APPROVAL OVER YOUR LIFE.

*THOUGH GOD PROSPERS HIS OWN, BUT NOT ALL PROSPEROUS PEOPLE HAVE GOD'S APPROVAL.*

 *PRAYER FOCUS*

1. Ask God to open your eyes to any area of your life where you are operating under a curse and receive Grace to remove yourself from it and come under Jesus.

2. Ask God for a broken and contrite spirit that you may always yield to His injunctions.

Bible reading: Gen. 4:1-26.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

WAY MAKER-2

Text: Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing: now it shall spring forth: shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness,  and rivers in the desert. God promised that He will do a new thing for you, and that He will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. He has done this before, and He will do it again even in your own life.  When the children of Israel left Egypt, the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them, encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.(Exodus 14:9). Just like anyone would react, the Isrealites became so fearful because there is neither way forward nor back for them to escape. Before them was the red sea, behind them were the Egyptian armies. They became perplexed and began to murmur against Moses. It is possible you are also in a situation like the Israelites- No way forward, and no way behind. Things may appear like you are ...

BEWARE OF DOGS

Text :  Philippians 3:2. Beware of the dogs! Beware of the evil workers! Beware of the mutilators! Usually, when you see the inscription "BEWARE OF DOGS", you instantly know there's a wild or trained dog around the corner, hence, the need to beware.  However, when God says 'Beware of dogs,' He wasn't actually referring to dogs as in 'animals' but to animals in human skin. Note that this caution was given to believers against other so-called  believers.  That is, some people within the church that we refer to as brothers and sisters are actually operating in the capacity of dogs.Though fellow worshippers in the church are called brothers and sisters, but if they behave like wild animals, know that they are dogs in humans skin- BEWARE. Matthew  7:6 says *Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.*  Essentially, dogs don't have capacity to r...
