VAGABONDS 2

Text : Gen 4:16 KJV

*And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.*

We established yesterday that worldy riches and class are no evidence that God is happy with you. Though they may be by-product of God's blessings, but they are truly no signs of God's approval.

Today, we will see more of the features of a Vagabond in the light of God's word.

It will surprise you to know that everything Cain achieved in the physical, is an indication of what true blessing is not.

True blessing is not marriage, children, riches, affluence etc. All of these Cain had while living under a curse. All these are actually what the gentiles seek, Matthew 6:32.And all these are actually what God will add to you after you have received the main blessing. Matt. 6:33. *So for a child of God, physical blessings are just mere additions.*

*He who has God and everything else has no more than he who has God only.* C.S Lewis.

In Gen 4:12 God told Cain that 'When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.' Then, you should ask yourself that how was Cain able to accumulate all that he had if actually his ground had been cursed? *Which ground was actually cursed?*

Psalm 115:16 says the heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD'S: but the earth hath he given to the children of men. So when God cursed the ground for Cain's sake, He wasn't referring to the physical ground (only)as it were.

*So what ground was God referring to?*

When Jesus spoke about the parable of the sower, He made some words very clear to us

He said *the seed* is the word of God, and *the ground* is the hearts of men. Luke 8:11&15.

That is, when God told cain that when thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.Gen 4:12, God was talking about the ground of his heart.

The highest curse anyone can receive is to have his heart cursed. It means that heart has lost its potentials to ever return to God. This was why Cain walked out of the presence of God. Gen. 4:16.

Any heart who walked out of God's presence is eternally doomed. The seed of God's word can't germinate on such heart again. Such man has been reduced to a *Vagabond* , who roams the earth without hope of a resting place in God. Though he may acquire fleeting 'success' here, they are all summed up in vanity.

Anyone who comes to this world without having the assurance of going back home(heaven) is a Vagabond - a person on a trip of indeterminate destination.

Jesus said He has gone to prepare a place for us. John 14:2. But this only covers for His followers.

"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also." John 14:3.

It is a pathetic thing to be a Vagabond on this earth. See to it that you are counted among those whom Jesus is preparing a place for in heaven.*

 *PRAYER FOCUS*

 1. Father, take the cloak of vanity away from me. Help me to live my life with eternity in view.

Bible reading: Gen. 4:1-26.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

WAY MAKER-2

Text: Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing: now it shall spring forth: shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness,  and rivers in the desert. God promised that He will do a new thing for you, and that He will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. He has done this before, and He will do it again even in your own life.  When the children of Israel left Egypt, the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them, encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.(Exodus 14:9). Just like anyone would react, the Isrealites became so fearful because there is neither way forward nor back for them to escape. Before them was the red sea, behind them were the Egyptian armies. They became perplexed and began to murmur against Moses. It is possible you are also in a situation like the Israelites- No way forward, and no way behind. Things may appear like you are ...

BEWARE OF DOGS

Text :  Philippians 3:2. Beware of the dogs! Beware of the evil workers! Beware of the mutilators! Usually, when you see the inscription "BEWARE OF DOGS", you instantly know there's a wild or trained dog around the corner, hence, the need to beware.  However, when God says 'Beware of dogs,' He wasn't actually referring to dogs as in 'animals' but to animals in human skin. Note that this caution was given to believers against other so-called  believers.  That is, some people within the church that we refer to as brothers and sisters are actually operating in the capacity of dogs.Though fellow worshippers in the church are called brothers and sisters, but if they behave like wild animals, know that they are dogs in humans skin- BEWARE. Matthew  7:6 says *Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.*  Essentially, dogs don't have capacity to r...
