DON'T BE A BACKSLIDER

Text : 2 Peter 2:20

For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning_ .

If you carefully read 1Peter 2:15-22, you will discover that God has a stricter judgement for backsliders. If you have been a follower of Hyper-Grace preachers; those corrupting God's Grace in their lives and that of their followers, I want to encourage you to check this scripture carefully. Though, God is a loving and gracious God, He is not an " *everything goes God* " Our God is a God of sure foundation and standard.(2Tim 2:19). He takes no pleasure in workers of iniquity and the backsliders (Heb 10:38).

From the text above, we can clearly see that those preachers of *once saved is saved* *forever* are not in tune with the scripture. They are only misleading people that have itching ears. Such folks cannot endure and follow sound doctines.(2Tim4:3)

Our Salvation, though total and complete at the point we confessed Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, yet in experience and walk, it is in stages:

1. Our spirit was quickened. Ephesians 2:1

2. Salvation of the soul.(1Peter 1:9). This is a long life journey towards becoming like Jesus(Rom 8:29). It should be the goal of every new believer whose spirit has been quickened.

This is the point we continually cooperate with he Holy Spirit to mortify works of the flesh by daily carrying our cross. This is the daily following we had to do with Jesus. Luke 9:23, colossians 3:3-6, 1Cor 15:31. This is the demand of discipleship. 

3. Our Body shall be saved and we shall become immortal.(1Cor15:35-44)

If after given your life to Jesus Christ, you get stucked, then you will not proceed to stage two (salvation of the soul). This is the case with many born again Christians today. Such Christians that have refused to journey into REALISING salvation of the soul may likely be entangled in the corruption of this world, thereby turning or sliding back into their former lifestyles.

You must seek to continue the journey of salvation to the uttermost. This is done in the power of the Holy Spirit and not by determination.

Although, every (born again) child of God has escaped the pollution of this world through the Knowledge of Christ our Saviour, but they can still be entangled and overcome again by the corruption of this world. Hence, our journey of faith calls for soberness and watchtfulness.(1Peter 4:7).

For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.* 2 Peter 2:21 

Let us see to it that we do not turn away from the holy commandment delivered unto us.

 *And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.*  

1Thessalonians 5:23

 *PRAYER FOCUS* 

1. Ask for God's mercy.

2. Pray for Grace to stand to the very end.

WAY MAKER-2

Text: Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing: now it shall spring forth: shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness,  and rivers in the desert. God promised that He will do a new thing for you, and that He will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. HIS VOICE- 2

Text : John 10:3. To him the porter opens; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out. We established yesterday that one thing you can't joke with as a true follower of Christ is *His Voice.* You must recognise and hearken to (obey) His voice. It is in doing this that your safety is assured.  Today, we want to see another responsibility of the Shepherd over His sheep.  To him the porter opens; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calls his own sheep by name, *and leads them out.* John 10:3.  He called you, that He might lead you.
