LOVE 2

Text : 1Cor. 13:4.

Love is always patient; love is always kind; love is never envious or arrogant with pride. Nor is she conceited,

The book of 1 Corinthian 13 opens us first and foremost to what love is not. Ironically, many of what is seen as love in our world today is actually what love is not.

I believe that this love chapter started by explaining what love is not so we could have a right judgement of what love is.

1. *Love is not in words*: I may be able to speak different languages that people use. I may be able to speak languages that angels use. But that is worth nothing unless I love. 1 Cor. 13:1.(Easy English).

Love is not contained in words only. Many people (especially ladies) have fallen head over heels for fraudsters in the name of love simply because they were carried away by sweet words.

1John 3:18 gave us a stern warning on this. 'My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.' Beware, it's very probable to in word or tongue only.

*It is essential for you not to pay lip service to love and it is more essential for you not to be swayed by listening to beautiful nonsense in the name of love.*

*_Love is essentially not what you do but who you are_ .*

2. *Love is not in giftings :* 1Cor 13:2.

If I have the gift of prophecy and can understand all secrets and every form of knowledge, and if I have absolute faith so as to move mountains but have no love, I am nothing.

It is possible to be flowing in all the gifts of the Spirit and still have not love. Don't be fooled by activities. Prophecy, signs and miracles is not a confirmation that it is of God.

3. *Love is not philanthropical* Obviously, love is giving, but giving is not love. That a man gives away everything he has for you does not mean he has love. This may actually seem contradictory, *but essentially, love is not what you do but who you are.*

Even if I give away everything that I have and sacrifice myself, but have no love, I gain nothing.1Cor. 13:3 ISV.

It is easy to mistake good acts for love. Anyone who loves will do all the above and more, but that someone does all the above does not mean he has love.

 *What then is love?*

*We shall be looking more into what love is tommorow, but suffice it to say today that GOD IS LOVE. 1 john 4:8*

 *PRAYER FOCUS*

1. Ask God to give you Grace to understand His love and be able to receive it.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

WAY MAKER-2

Text: Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing: now it shall spring forth: shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness,  and rivers in the desert. God promised that He will do a new thing for you, and that He will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. He has done this before, and He will do it again even in your own life.  When the children of Israel left Egypt, the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them, encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.(Exodus 14:9). Just like anyone would react, the Isrealites became so fearful because there is neither way forward nor back for them to escape. Before them was the red sea, behind them were the Egyptian armies. They became perplexed and began to murmur against Moses. It is possible you are also in a situation like the Israelites- No way forward, and no way behind. Things may appear like you are ...

BEWARE OF DOGS

Text :  Philippians 3:2. Beware of the dogs! Beware of the evil workers! Beware of the mutilators! Usually, when you see the inscription "BEWARE OF DOGS", you instantly know there's a wild or trained dog around the corner, hence, the need to beware.  However, when God says 'Beware of dogs,' He wasn't actually referring to dogs as in 'animals' but to animals in human skin. Note that this caution was given to believers against other so-called  believers.  That is, some people within the church that we refer to as brothers and sisters are actually operating in the capacity of dogs.Though fellow worshippers in the church are called brothers and sisters, but if they behave like wild animals, know that they are dogs in humans skin- BEWARE. Matthew  7:6 says *Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.*  Essentially, dogs don't have capacity to r...
