DON'T SCARE AWAY THE CLOUD(2)

Text : Numbers 12:10

And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous*

Aaron and Miriam, probably because they were older than Moses and being of the same parents thought they could rebuke him for taken a Cushite woman as wife. They thought they were at par with him because of the measure of grace they had also enjoyed.

They said, “Has the Lord spoken only through Moses? Hasn’t he spoken through us, too?” Numbers 12:2.

This insurbodination from the siblings of Moses kindled God's anger and led to the dissappearance of the cloud from the tabernacle of meeting. Immediately the cloud lifted, leprosy came upon Miriam. This leprosy is the consequential effect of her sin against her brother who is now God's servant.

This scenario is pointing to the fact that God has not committed the rod of your leaders into your hands. While you have the obligation to entreat your leaders, you do not have the duty to criticize or harshly talk at them. Even if your leader is found in the wrong. Your duty is simply to entreat and pray for him.

The word *INTREAT* as used in 1Timothy 5:1 is the archaic form of *ENTREAT.* The word entreat according to the dictionary means, to beseech or supplicate successfully; to prevail upon by prayer or solicitation; to persuade.

Looking at Miriam's and Aaron's case, we can see that another major sin that could lead to disappearance of God's presence is *rank breaking.* The whole of Israel had to suffer from the sin of these two persons. The cloud disappeared and stopped their progress for seven full days. They couldn't journey again since the cloud had suddenly disappeared.

"And Miriam was shut out from the camp seven days: and the people journeyed not till Miriam was brought in again"(Numbers 12:15)

They lost one full week in the calendar of their journey because of two persons. While Miriam was away, they could not enjoy God's presence because the cloud was not present. Their journey could not continue because they had to wait for Miriam to recover. It must have been that the cloud returns after Miriam returned to the camp.

The early church knew what it means to lose the cloud, hence they guard it jealously. They knew very well that the sin of one can affect many by scaring away God's gentle presence. The Apostles wrote to the gentile Church in Acts 15:29 to keep themselves from pollution of idol and fornication. They knew these things can send away the cloud (God's presence). That is the reason Paul clearly stated how individual that 'slides away' from faith should be dealt with in 1Cor 5:1-11.

*See to it that your are not responsible for the disaster in the church of God. For it is a great disaster if the presence of God disappear in the midst of His people just because of YOU.*

"....Don’t you realize that this sin is like a little yeast that spreads through the whole batch of dough?Get rid of the old “yeast” by removing this wicked person from among you. Then you will be like a fresh batch of dough made without yeast, which is what you really are. Christ, our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed for us. 1Cor 5:6-7

 *PRAYER FOCUS*

1. Ask the Lord for Grace and strength to deal with every hidden sins in your life.

2. Pray that God will cleanse His church by exposing all hidden sins in our midst.

Bible Reading: 1Cor. 5:1-11.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
