WATCH!

Text : Mark 13:37

And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch

While we must endeavour to keep all of Jesus's words and commandments, there were certain cogent statements made by Jesus which we must constantly pay attention to. One of such is our text today: "....what I say unto you I say unto all, *Watch* "

Keeping our watch and staying awake simply help us to stay pure and keep our focus on His coming. 1John 3:3.

The Apostles and believers of the first century did well in their pilgrimage because they kept the words of Jesus to letter. They were watchful to the point that they were expecting Jesus to return in that first century. The first century believers that lived within 33-100AD lived on daily basis as though Jesus would be returning any moment. They were on their guards. They were watchful.

Why would Jesus give this stern instruction of being watchful? Mark 13:36 gave us the clear answer: *"lest he come suddenly and find you asleep".* Jesus gave us the warning because He does not want us to fall asleep at anytime. While others(unbelievers) are sleeping and slumbering, Jesus wants the believers to stay awake and watch.

But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. You are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.(1Thess 5:4-5)

Jesus's coming as a thief is not meant to catch the saints unaware. His coming as a thief is actually upon the world and should not be for His saints.

We must not get used to this world to the point that we forget we are strangers here. 1Peter 2:11. The time we have here is too short. Our stay on this side of eternity is actually a preparation for the real world God has prepared for us.(John 14:1-3, Rev. 21:1-7).

Adam, being tempted and schemed by the devil has allowed this present earth to be polluted. Hence, we are only passing through as strangers.

Don't allow any preacher make you too comfortable in this present world. Don't get settled here.

*Apostle Paul warned against settlement in this present world:*

"But let me say this, dear brothers and sisters: The time that remains is very short. So from now on, those with wives should not focus only on their marriage. Those who weep or who rejoice or who buy things should not be absorbed by their weeping or their joy or their possessions. Those who use the things of the world should not become attached to them. For this world as we know it will soon pass away".1 Corinthians 7:29

It got me scared to know that even many in the church buildings today are not ready at all. when I ask people who attend bible believing churches: "Would you be able to make it if Jesus should come now?" about 98% of the people will sincerely reply by saying NO! They are not ready!

As a believer and genuine child of God, you are supposed to be in a *WATCHFUL and READY MODE* waiting for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.

 *PRAYER FOCUS*

1. Father, help me to stay awake and watchful in this perversed and adulterous generation.

Bible reading: Mark 13:27-37.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

WHEN GOD IS SILENT(2)

Text: Matthew 4:1  *Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.*  We saw yesterday that God was not pleased with many israelites that left Egypt for the promised land  (Corinthians 10:5).  A good percentage of the Israelites were overthrown in the wilderness.   Wilderness experience is not what any child of God desires, but it is an experience God sends or allows his children go through. In Deuteronomy 8:2, God says that He *LED* the Isrealites through the wilderness for forty years to humble them, to prove them, and to know what was in their heart whether they would keep his commandments or not.  Our Lord Jesus Christ was also *LED* into the wilderness by the Spirit of the Lord to be tempted by the devil. You will  notice there is a similar feature of the number *40(forty)* between these two wilderness experiences. That is, that of the Israelites and our Lord Jesus Christ. The Israelites spent 40years, Jesu...
