REST(2)

Text : Matthew 11:28 

 *Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest* .

People that are labouring and heavy laden are yet to experience the rest that Jesus promised. This labour is primarily the state of the soul. Those that labour and heavy laden exhibits certain characteristics or lifestyles which include one or two or all of the following:

 *1. Unbelief:* One of the major characteristics of those refered to as being under labour and heavy laden is UNBELIEF. This is the first requirement for hell candidates.Rev 21:8

Unbelief is a condemnable lifestyle that prevented the Israelites from making it to the Promised land. Heb. 3:19.

God will never condemn people to Hell because of their Sins, but because of their UNBELIEF. People will go to Hell because they do not believe in Jesus. This is not just a mouth or mental accent belief. If you truly believe Jesus, you will be genuinely delivered from Sin.

“ *There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him* *. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son* .And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. John 3:18-19

Unbelief is one of the main features of people that are growing weary, tired, exhausted and heavy laden(in their souls).

No REST for sinners and unbelievers. That is the reason they inscribe on their obituary: REST IN PEACE(RIP). This inscription should rather be our reality before we close our eyes in death. You should be able to *_REST IN PEACE_* .before you *_SLEEP IN PEACE_* 

While the former should describe your reality in earth as a child of God, the latter should be your reality in death. 

People inscribe RIP because they know or presuppose that man only rest in peace after death. God's word did not tell us that. Jesus promised us Peace here on earth in the face of tribulation.(John 14:27, 16:33). If you cannot access this Peace that Jesus promised, then you are still under labour and heavy laden. 

Having gotten your spirit regenerated by being born again, your soul needs to taste the same salvation that your spirit had experienced for you to experience PEACE. 

So, UNBELIEF works in the realm of your soul. Even for sinners, you need to believe through the soul before your spirit can be regenerated.

 GOD'S DESIRE IS THAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE TOTAL REST IN PEACE WHILE YOU ARE STILL ALIVE. Jesus and the first century disciples achieved this. We too can.

As a genuine child of God, you should always be at REST and PEACE in the face of turbulence situations.

 *__MY PRAYER IS THAT I WILL REST IN PEACE WHILE I HAVE MY BREATH. I HOPE YOU TOO CAN PRAY SAME PRAYER TODAY_ ?*

 *PRAYER FOCUS* 

1.) Ask the Lord to give you the Rest He promised everyone that comes to Him

2)Pray that you will also find the Peace of God in the face of the tribulation or problem facing you now.

PRAYING MEN

Text : 1Timothy 2:8. I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. God gave explicit instructions to all of His children as to how we must live our lives. Some of these instructions cut across boards, of which all of God's children must obey. However, there are some instructions that are specific to gender or portfolios. We we'll be looking at some of these instructions today.  *THE MEN* From our text, there are two distinct responsibilities God wants men to undertake, and the two are intertwined. First, God wants men to pray. The word  'men' as used in our text is not generic as to mean all human beings. It is specifically requesting that all men should pray. Yes, God expects every of His children to pray, but He specifically called men out here.  A number of times,  when prayer meetings are called, the proportion of women in attendance always outnumbered men. This is because the devil knows the import of praying men.

Text: 1 Kings 19:12 "...and after the earthquake a fire, [but] the LORD [was] not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice" Prophet Elijah fled after he received the life threatening message from Jezebel, the wife of King Ahab, because he didn't keep himself calm before the Lord.  *Endeavouring to listen to God in difficult times is a major prerequisite to your deliverance.*  Are you faced with a life threatening situation like Prophet Elijah, the first and most important thing you need to do is: "Set yourself before the Lord for His still small voice."  *"You will be saved from many unwarranted troubles if only you will always maintain your calm before the Lord and listen to Him."*  After Prophet Elijah heard the still small voice, then the Lord asked him, "What are you doing here?"
